LE JOUR DES ROIS IS A BIG EVENT HERE AND WHILE THE TRADITIONAL DATE IS JANUARY 6TH, THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS DECIDED TO CELEBRATE IT ON THE 1ST SUNDAY OF JANUARY. IT MARKS THE END OF THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS HERE AND SUNDAY I WILL TAKE DOWN THE TREE. THE NATIVITY SCENES WILL REMAIN IN PLACE UNTIL FEBRUARY 2, THE OFFICIAL END OF THE PROVENCAL CHRISTMAS SEASON.

"We 3 kings of orient are, bearing gifts we travel afar" was a favorite carol.

Nice post Kofla. I have heard the story before of the three kings and also as Troll said the song we always sing about the three kings.

Lovely photo and post Koffla. The feast of the Epiphany is celebrated in Ireland under a different name Little Christmas. On this day it was the tradition here for the women to get together and enjoy their own Christmas while the men stay at home and handle all the chores.

The ever changing landscape of women in the workplace has seen this holiday become an almost obsolete event here. A small number of counties still pride themselves on the tradition such as Kerry and Cork.
