IN ITALY THE TRADITION USED TO BE TO GIVE PRESENTS ON JANUARY 6TH AND NOT ON CHRISTMAS DAY. THE FAMOUS "BEFANA". IN PROVENCE IT IS ALSO AN IMPORTANT RELIGIOUS HOLIDAY AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO KEEP THE CHRISTMAS TREE SO THAT THE LIGHTS WILL GUIDE THE KINGS DURING THEIR JOURNEY;

When I was a kid, presents were also given on January 6th.
