As I think back, I believe I heard a whirring noise when I placed my hand under the machine. I guess that would mean mechanical versus optical. I can only hope!

Well, it's giving me a big smile..... we all do some dumb stuff sometimes, and just hope nobody sees it.
This reminded me of the time I started a new job in the hospital. It was my first day, and I was assigned with another nurse. We were leaving an isolation room, and had to step into the bathroom and wash our hands with a special betadine based soap. I went first, and expected a thick soap or foam, so instead of cupping my hand under the spout when I stepped on the foot pedal, I just stuck my hand sort of flat under it. The liquid hit my hand so hard it splattered all over me and into my eyes. I was more embarrassed than hurt, especially when I had to fill out an incident report and go to the ER to get my eyes flushed and my uniform was covered with dark brown splatters.

Oh gosh, MrsJoe! I'm glad everything turned out ok! And I definitely understand that feeling of hoping nobody noticed. lol

I had a similar thing of people looking at me strangely.
A friend and I had a bet to see who could dance with the most ladies the following Saturday night if we wore cowboy hats.
I do not like cowboy hats so I had to buy one.
Saturday came & I was ashamed to wear it . LOL
So I carried it in ----laid it on the chair beside me and the guy I bet with was on the other side.. LOL
Music started & instantly this fantastic looking blonde lady came walking across the dance floor-------My friend --------said wow that blonde is the best dancer in the building I hope she is coming over to ask me to dance. LOL
She walks up in front of us picks my hat up off the chair-----plops it on my head & said let's dance. LOL
Of course being the gentleman I am we danced every tune the rest of the evening because she kept clinging to my arm until the tune would begin LOL
While dancing I noticed people looking at us & grinning like (they) were silly.
After the place closed I was getting into my cowboy truck----took the hat off & realized she placed it on my head backwards.

I still have the hat-------I've never worn it since then. LOL
My friend won the bet. I didn't get a chance to dance with more than one but I didn't mind taking the loss. LOL
Party On!

Neat story, JW. Reminded me of a time when Joe and I were sitting in John A's in Nashville with some SFF folks. One of the guys who considered himself kind of a lady's man saw this cute blond come in the door and said something to Joe like, "Wow, check her out." Joe glanced over and said, "Yeah, I think I'll kiss her" or something silly like that.
The other guy said, "YOU WISH!"
The gal was a country singer named Julie, and we had known her for quite awhile, and sure enough, she spotted Joe, came to the table, plopped down on his lap and kissed him! I thought that other guy's eyes were going to pop out of his head.

Mrs Joe that is funny. LOL
My story was tragic.
I had been dancing with all the ladies for about 8 yrs & the damn cowboy hat messed the whole thing up.
I married the blonde lady. LOL
Party On!

It's great to be able to laugh at ourselves. One time I was at a meeting. I keep my coffee up in my bag. I thought I pulled out my coffee cup but pulled out my son's baby bottle and placed it on the table. Everyone started laughing.
