Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Welcome to Week 29 – C Week: Pearls' Coastal Capers! Featuring: Cranberry, Channel, Creek, Contrail, Candle CRANBERRY Cape Cod is said to be the founder of cranberry cultivation in the United States, dating back to 1816. Cranberries are versatile little berries, showing up in recipes for desserts, relishes, salads, and main meals. Beverages are also a common use. Juice with a little added sweetener is “cranberry juice cocktail”. Add some vodka and lime and you get a “Cape Codder”. Add Cointreau to that mix and you get a “Cosmopolitan”. Tons of possibilities. I don't drink so my favorite is the “Moscow Mule Mocktail” .. cranberry juice, non-alcoholic ginger beer, and a slice of lime. Had fun setting up this festive little cranberry cocktail photo. Glass is tricky to photograph but I like a challenge! CHANNEL Ever wonder how boaters stay out of each other's way without painted road lines? The key, I found, is in the red and green buoys. As you can see in this photo, they are positioned to indicate that the boating channel is between them. And there are rules about keeping them to your port or starboard side as you head upstream or downstream. But I'll leave the explanation to experienced boaters as I am not one! CREEK Paine's Creek in Brewster in early May before Mother Nature has had a chance to work her springtime magic. Spring comes late to Cape Cod and locals quip: “Cape Cod spring is March, March, March, and June”. CONTRAIL Part of a photo shoot I did for R-week at Robbins Hill Road Beach in Brewster, this photo emphasizes the contrail. CANDLE How does a candle qualify for the coastal theme I've been having so much fun with? Bayberry fragrance! Bayberry is native to the East Coast and particularly well suited to Cape Cod because it can tolerate acidic soil and a windy environment. My earliest memory of bayberry is a muslin sachet of it that my family picked up as a souvenir during one of our Cape Cod vacations in the 1960's. The fragrance of this candle brings me back to that time in my life. Thanks for joining me for Pearls' Coastal Capers - “C week”!

I am also a teetotaler and the mixture of cranberry juice and ginger beer sounds fantastic. I drink them separately. I absolutely have to fix them together next time. I do keep plenty of candles in my household.

I'm going to give the cranberry juice and ginger beer a try too. I drink a lot of cranberry juice mixed with water, ginger beer sounds better. Beautiful selection of "C" photos, Pearls.

Love your great display of photos for "Foto Friday". I am sure you have a lot of fun taking all those photos and then arranging them beautifully. I don't drink alcohol beverages either so your cocktail of cranberry juice and ginger beer would be up my alley. Cranberry juice is very good for your kidneys. Nice candle in time for the Christmas season coming up.

My grandmother was a penny pincher, who hardly ever bought anything special for herself. Her one indulgence was cranberry juice cocktail, of which she drank a small glass every morning for her bladder. I'm lazy, so I just take a capsule every morning and evening, but it does really help me. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

It's been a while since I last drank cranberry juice so I might add it to the shopping list come summer. As I rarely/only occasionally drink alcohol, I'd be interested in trying out the 'Moscow Mule Mocktail' with its additional ginger beer 'zing'. I think you did a beautiful job of photographing the glass & its contents; it looks seriously seductive. And the contrail shot is outstanding. Thank you Pearls
