Welcome to Week 40 – N Week: Pearls' Coastal Capers! Featuring: Nobscussett, Narrow, Nectar, Neat NOBSCUSSETT Corporation Beach, photo taken yesterday morning at sunrise. The weather has been pretty cold and dismal on Cape lately so I've been staying inside a lot. Yesterday was an exception .. less cloudy and a little warmer .. so I ventured out to the beach, hoping to capture a pretty N-week sunrise. Nobscusset Harbor is made up of the beach in this photo, Corporation Beach, and one other small bay beach. It's odd that it is called a harbor because there is no boat access, but if you're lucky you can sometimes catch a glimpse of dinner cruises passing by. NARROW Tall, narrow milkweed pods at Merrill Veterans Park this past October. They're the perfect host plant for the Monarch butterfly, and interesting to look at especially after the pods burst open and the floss starts flying. But make sure to keep your distance because the sap is really toxic! NECTAR Nectar-seeking bees at Sea Street Beach this past September, another fun example of the “live” feature of my phone's camera. It wasn't until I pressed the “live” button in the edit screen that I noticed a frame with a second bee having flown in to pose with his buddy. lol NEAT I went to Forest Beach in Chatham a couple of months ago to photograph a sunrise and noticed this bike rack near the edge of the parking lot. I imagine in season it helps keep the bikes safe and the area looking neat. Off season it almost looks like modern art. Thanks for joining me for Pearls' Coastal Capers - “N week”!

The Bicycle racks looks like they have been there awhile. When my boys were younger; We used to bicycle on the bike trail along the beach in Ventura, California. I had a child's seat on the back of my bike for my youngest while the oldest had his own. We would end up at Pierpont beach going through an upper class neighborhood. There was an elementary school on the beach. I would shout out to Joshua, there your future school. He would yell back "Yeah Right!" When I went to register him for school, I was told that he was being desegrated to Pierpont Elementary. I had to laugh, my blue eyed, blond child was being segregated out of a minority school. I got home and told Joshua, guess what.....

Fantastic pictures of the place. "The only way to have a friend is to be one."

Don't they ride bikes anymore???? They look so disused and abandoned.

Sea birds are fascinating, aren't they?! Gulls in particular seem to be really motivated by food. Published results of a recent study ... Stare down a seagull and it will be less likely to steal your French fry! lol

Not sure. But if I were a bird I'd put on a set of headphones and swoop around to the music!

Knowing the season, I can feel the chill in the air of that first picture. I wonder, if you had told us it was taken last summer, if I would have sensed warmth? Perception is an odd thing. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Great song! Versatile, and could probably be styled many ways. An upbeat rumba or cha cha? Swing? Practice speed salsa? Endless possibilities.

Off-topic in and of itself is not a problem at all for me. The problem I have is when I post something non-controversial and another blogger nit-picks, turns the post inside out, or pulls it off topic in an effort to find some way of manufacturing controversy. I had never heard of Bob Willis so I just youtubed to listen. Western swing a genre that I'm really unfamiliar with!

Thanks for the suggestion. I Youtubed Texas 3 Step by Bonnie & Bill and the clip that came up looked like what I know as "Country Western 2-Step". We count it quick-quick-slow-slow, to 4/4 rhythm but in 6-beat segments (each quick is 1 beat and each slow is 2 beats). So we're probably thinking of the same dance but by different names.
