Looks Like The Tea Party Won.

People who get government checks prepare for worst

The doubt has many businesses bracing for impact, according to a mid-July survey of corporate treasurers and finance executives by the Association for Financial Professionals.

More than half said they would make a defensive move if the debt ceiling wasn’t raised — freeze hiring, cut jobs, reduce their business investment, delay payments to vendors or some other action, the association said.

“If anyone is wondering whether there is real world impact to the budget impasse, U.S. corporations are telling us that they will have to take defensive action that will only have a negative impact on the job market and the economy,” the association’s president, Jim Kaitz, said in an announcement.

UMB bankers in Kansas City are advising who do a lot of work for the federal government to be sure their own cash positions or access to credit would carry them through a possible disruption in federal payments.

It's truly amazing that the Tea Partiers for all of their intransigence really have succeeded in shooting everyone other than the wealthy, including themselves, in the foot.

What a bunch of amateurs!!

As to winning. I agree with mrsjoe.

The Progressives want to 'tax the rich'. Like that is going to trickle down to the average consumer.

Well according to the Republicans the obverse is true. At least taxing the wealthy and eliminating the corporate welfare that were the prime beneficiaries of the Bush Tax Cuts and economic policy are going to the source of the problem.

Republicans just don't want to face the fact that Bush sold this country out and that it is not only a problem of spending but also a problem of revenue.

Good God Skipper .....The Bush Tax cuts raised revenues, are you so blind with BushHate that you cannot see it. Please post one of your flip charts that shows just how taxcuts for everyone sold us out. I am sure you can find one on Dumbo Paul Krugmans web site.....

Its time to start reading the Bible, It will scare the Hell out of you...

We did not win - the debt level will increase, at current spending levels, by $16 to $17 trillion in 10 years and the cuts will only cut %1 trillion. That is not a win, but a sell out.

I agree to some extent with all of you. In my opinion however, Obama gave in to the bullies....and caved. It's the 90% of Americans who make less than $300,000 who will suffer. They may not see the forest for the trees yet, but it will sink in within a year or 2. I hope not many of you guys have savings bonds. I think they are as worthless as our Social Security contract with the government that we have paid for over our entire working lives.

Saucypeaches....no plan, no budget, no ideas...yet they can point the finger at others. Note the liberals here who are still pointing the finger. Sad indeed.

I don't think anyone's happy with the so-called "deal". I know I'm not. The dems aren't happy, the repubs aren't happy, the tea party isn't happy....and my grandchildren certainly aren't happy!

This whole thing was nothing more than a charade..geared to protect nobama from having to face his budget woes in an election year. HeLL, I'm still wondering when he's going to become president instead of a continuing candidate!

There is only one thing standing between nobama and Marxist tyranny: We, the People!!

One more comment....WAKE UP FOLKS! BUSH ISN'T THE PRESIDENT ANYMORE AND HASN'T BEEN FOR NEARLY THREE DAMN YEARS. Now WHEN will nobama start accepting responsibility for his actions? Or will the liberals still be protecting him when we totally sink into the toilet?

I like the fact that more and more of us are thinking for ourselves, taking time to educate ourselves on how things came to be. Thus an intelligent person knows that what it took 8 years to destroy (The Clinton surplus), you can't correct in 2.5 years. Whoever is the president come 2012, will benefit from what this president put in place. The fact that some people on here try so hard to direct thinking from the facts indicates to me that they don't think many of us can think for ourselves. What I think is so sad is the fact that it's an us vs. them mentality. Divide and conquer. With only a few calling the shots for the millions, We all lose in the end !
