Bonnie Blue

The Bonnie Blue Flag, a rectangular blue field with a single five-pointed star in the center, is the familiar name of a flag that dates from 16 Sept. 1810, when it was used by the short-lived Republic of West Florida.

The Bonnie Blue flag was used as an unofficial flag during the early months of 1861. It was flying above the Confederate batteries that first opened fire on Fort Sumter, beginning the Civil War. The flag was flown in Mississippi after the state seceded from the Union, inspiring the Confederacy-era song "The Bonnie Blue Flag." In addition, many military units had their own regimental flags they would carry into battle.

This flag has come to symbolize secession, self-governance and State Sovereignty.

We've flown the Bonnie Blue over the farm for the last 14 months. It doesn't carry the "racially charged" connotation like in the "Stars & Bars" Confederate Battle flag. The mailman just brought us *3* more today.

I thought of Gone With The Wind when U said Bonnie Blue. Bonnie Blue Butler was Scarlett and Rhett's first daughter. In the movie Scarlett, she had another daughter

Mmmmm I wanted to mention that , however, I thought it might require a bit too much information to a quick read.

Such a wonderful old movie. Some great characters in it, Mammy was my favourite.

Having a touch of roguish scallywag in my blood I more closely associate myself with Rhett Butler.

Ah yes, Rhett was great too. He was the only one who could put Miss Scarlett in her place.

He did a fine job of it right up to the very end and his famous last line upon his departure.

In the movie Scarlett, they get back together.
I'm more of a Scarlett when it comes to being put in my place.... haven't met a man yet who can do it. Also, a little bit of Mammy too, I'm a caring, and giving person.
