Roses are.......... My old fashioned French Rose is blooming. The whole front lawn is filled with the sweet scent. This is what "Roses" were before horticulturalists started messing with them. Around the time of Louis XV you can see a cluster in the hair of Madam Dubois by Nicolas de Largilliere. The print hangs in the parlor. |

Regrettably my photo lighting does not capture the more "pinkish" color of the flowers. The whole front lawn is drenched in the sweet fragrance. The little honeybees are having a sweet delightful treat. Cloudy only about 70 F here but at least the air is calm. Meatball subs for lunch with plenty of melted Mozzi cheese.

Lovely......The wild roses here are a dark pink. have a strong fragrance and make large, oblong hips that are a glossy bright red.....They grow along the roads and grow in dense clusters along the sand-spits and beaches....One of my favourite smells in the whole world is the combination of wild roses and sea-weed .....smells like HOME to me........

I remember the ditches in the country were full of pretty pink and white, sweet smelling roses, commonly known as dog roses. I don't think they are as plentiful now as they were back then. Your rose is blooming lovely.

Lantanas and Iris grow wild on my place here. I just mow over most of them. This year has been very dry and the lantanas come up all over the place. Actually a nuisance Evidently they spread from my mowing.

At first glance, I thought it was a blackberry bush in flower (similar simple petal arrangement). It sounds very pretty with its pink dusting and sweet scent. Is it a strong scent, clean & light or in between?

Wild roses are quite plentiful here in the prairie desert. They are a hardy plant that springs up along road sides where herbicides are not used. They can easily be transplanted into your home garden, and provide pink, fragrant blossoms all season.

I am absolutely exhausted after spending the last 8 hours loading and moving stuff from the basement of one house to the first floor of another. I did it all by myself. Once I got the stuff all moved, I deep vacummed the carpets and cleaned and sanitized the cupboards, appliances, fixtures and floors. Then I helped another neighbor install a beam across the ceiling of a second floor master bedroom.

It was a hot and windy day, 85F, some dry thunder. Tonight it is supposed to cloud over with rain starting Sunday night and going on into Monday and Tuesday morning. Thank goodness; we really need the rain.

I didn't see little doggy, Archie today, but I did get a wellness report. He is doing great and is able to go up and down stairs and jump off the sofa without yelping in pain. I sent him a get well toy from Shelbee, my regular little doggy.

It is a refreshing light scent that carries quite a distance.

The thorns would get your attention if you were to stumble into the ditch! This was way before my time, courting couples used to court in the ditches after the local dance. Rumour has it that the parish priest would go around the fields and ditches with a big stick to run off the boys and girls and put an end to their shenanigans. The bikes in the ditch gave the game away you see.

I often pricked my finger on a rose thorn, very sore thing indeed. This was way before my time, courting couples used to court in the ditches after the local dance.
