For GLUMO

I'd promised the "Midis Touch" a few days ago Tonight I am kicked back catching up relaxing as best I can. GLUMO posted her exquisite "Half Eagle" $5 gold piece.

Up on our wall is a 34 mm 1896 Double Eagle $20 gold coin. Weight: 33.40 grams ; Mintage: 792,535. This "Coronet" style was made from 1849 to 1907 when the mint switched to the familiar Saint-Gaudens double eagle

The beauty and glistening of gold is hard to resist. The Traditional "Coronet" style gold coins the USA minted are the very backbone of 19th century commerce in the USA.

WoW! That's a nice coin, Darter. I bet you are very proud to display that one.

Hope you are feeling a bit better. At least you aren't at the ER.

Nice coins Darter! I remember years ago a former friend used wear a half eagle gold coin ring. I believe it came from some ancestor of hers. I had forgotten all about it until I saw your posting.

Glad I could jog your memory. I like putting our various coins and banknotes out forn display. I look up from the desk at the colourful beauty of the Czar's 500 ruble banknote and the Kaiser's 100 Reichsmark.... No great value or rarity ... just a piece of history that makes me smile.

I love the Morgan Dollars but with so many Chinese FAKES I don't buy them. It's an amazing era when Confederate money is worth more than the current federal reserve notes. The Office is decorated wity old European notes from before the Euros when countries competed to have the most color, size, and watermarks.
