DON'T KISS ME !

Sometimes the holiday tradition gets in the way. Even so far as to separate couples causing marital strife. JD & Alex like oyster stew.... Max and I would rather eat anything else BUT Oysters.

HOWEVER.... I dice up a few potatoes and bring to a slow boil.

I have a container of oysters from the store.

I dump the raw oysters in with the cooking potatoes for a brief boil... not too long or they will get tough.

I add a cup of cream, a few tablespoons of butter and some whole milk. Warm the milk just enough to melt the butter before you serve it.

This is how they like it served....

Max & I had beef stir fry over rice

No oysters for me thank you very much. I recall when I was growing up my mother always got oysters for New Years. It seemed to be a tradition for her.

It is a Yuletide tradition with JD's family..... I will cook them for him but I won't eat them.

[SIZE 3]No oysters for me, please. I know somebody who slurps them. Is there some stir fry left for me?

I love Oysters......My favourite way to cook them is to place the shells.....deep shell down on the cooler edge of a camp-fire......When the shell opens, remove top shell and let it simmer and evaporate.....when the juice is gone, add a spoonful of garlic butter and let it sizzle for a few more minutes.......a dab of Sriracha and done....

That method of preparation is beyond my cooking skills.

Living in Oyster country, where you gather them at low tide and cook them immediately is the only way I've had them.....Many Winters, living off-grid, unable to go to town or go fishing because of the storms, there was these beautiful Oysters....This prime source of protein just sitting on the beach......I learned many ways to cook them.....just rinsed, dried, rolled in flour with salt and pepper and crisp-fried was our usual method.....An Oyster pot pie is good too.....I also smoked and canned them......

I have never bought Oysters in a store and I don't think I would like them either.....I discard the dead ones, only eat the freshly shucked ones.

I'm not fussy. I am sure I would like both dishes. I have always liked oysters and can really get down with a beef stir fry over rice. Both great meals, Chef Bret.

It was cloudy with very light snow, -5C (23F) all day. I went to the city on an emergency banking mission and also to assuage one of the mortgage loan sharks into accepting a half payment because I had run short of funds. Picked up a couple sacks of slices and a carrot to get me through the month.

Had more leftover turkey, cranberries, dinner rolls, and smashed potatoes for supper tonight. Will have some apple pie with dark chocolate truffle ice cream a bit later.

I personally do NOT trust seafood transported here. I do shrimp that are frozen on site in Louisiana and our Northern Pike grown just across the border in Minnesota. You are very lucky to have then available to you. I have made oysters Lafayette for dinner parties besides the oyster stew. I nhave my bag of oyster half shells for future parties.
