Borderline  The day ends on a softer note, the rolling landscape once more enveloped in twilight’s shadows. I breathe deeply of the moment, reaching far beyond the here-and-now to find the orchards in the distance. The lush green leaves of the apple trees sway in time to a song only they can hear - and that song sends ripples of memory through my soul. I smile knowing that heaven has given me this day. A love offering unlike any other .. wrapped in the peace and tranquility of the grace that surrounds me. I hear my name whispered gently on the breeze, and I listen as its fragile echo fades into the final seconds … and the last rays of the summer sun splash liquid gold across the hills. The angels will soon paint a velvet blanket of darkness upon this canvas - and yet somewhere within me the feeling remains. Pleasures borne of sun dappled flowers and long hours spent beside the shores of a babbling brook .. time is captured in the blink of an eye. Soon winter will return to claim the land .. a frosty reminder that nothing this beautiful can last forever. But for now there is only love .. and I will dream in the warmest of colors. For these are the reflections I see .. etched for all time in the fleeting passage of a summer once remembered. |
