It sounds like a plan Earthy. I love squash of any sort. My favorite is spaghetti squash. How do you prepare your squash? The pumpkin bars sound wonderful as well and I am sure you will be a hit with your food offerings.

The squash look as though they are discussing how they would like to be prepared.

That sounds like a good arrangement--providing basics and having sides provided potluck style. I see so many recipes now for squash, from soup to pan pie. It's a wonderful food.

Sounds like a fun and delicious feast. I love potlucks.....Fortunately, I live in a community of people who also love it.....Your squash recipe sounds delicious......good wholesome food simply prepared.....I ended up freezing quite a lot of sugar pumpkin this year.....I really enjoy a spicy Thai pumpkin soup with coconut milk, lemon grass. and curry.

Earthy I am of the same mind when it comes to cutting the squash. When I make spaghetti squash I bake them whole and then cut open after they are baked. I clean out the seeds and use a fork to remove the squash from the shell so you get the strands of the spaghetti. I keep it simple and use salt, pepper, butter and some ginger to the squash. I have tried it using a tomato sauce on the squash but I am not big on that. I love squash soup made from the butter nut squash. I peel it first with a potato peeler or a sharp knife and then cut it open and remove the seeds. Cut into chunks and make the soup by cooking the squash along with the mirepoix and seasonings. I use chicken stock in the soup and it is wonderful.

Earthy P.S. on my last post. I forgot to mention after cooking all the ingredients for the squash soup I put it all into the blender and bland it. Return to pot and adjust seasonings as needed.

Wonder why I just now saw this? I like squash too.... and hate the cutting and peeling off the rind, so your method sounds doable for me. I also like fried squash.
We used to raise several types of squash and I especially liked those big ones with a long neck. The neck could be sliced for frying and the body cooked for other dishes.
