Another sleepless night ... fact checking ... Maisie's favorite game.

Can the American economy afford this president who spends like a drunken sailor? Read it and weep.

Historically speaking, and according to Snopes:

"After only nine months in office, President Trump had already spent $147 million on personal travel, amounting to one-and-a-half times as much as President Obama and family spent in the eight years of the latter's presidency."

GO TO Snopes for the variables, Including,, "Not one peep from conservatives."

As early as Jan 12, 2012, Trump tweeted:

"President Barack Obama's vacation is costing taxpayers millions of dollars. Unbelievable! They love to spend money!"

( HA!!! He sold this to the American public!! )

IF you search, search, search, it's hard to find CURRENT figures! Maybe Maisie can help me out. She's better at fact-checking than I am.

Further, in my meager search, I found, "Secret Service spends more than $750 million of its $1.8 billion dollar budget on protective services for Trump and family. "

David Frum states on August 21, 2017; "No presidency in history has imposed larger personal lifestyle costs on the taxpayer than Donald Trump."

There is no end to what this man can and will do to our economy, even while his 30% base cheers him on.
.
I KNOW this is old news, BUT, I'm OLD, and I am just catching up while burning the candle tonight. I don't believe in wasting time. I think this worthy of a new mention, a stark reminder, so thanks for your patience.

I, as an average citizen, am expected to balance my budget. WHY does this same standard not made to apply to government?

I live on meager earnings and managed to aid my children ( my citizens) in achieving good educations as a single parent - thankfully with help from the father of my children who has like standards ; I have managed to spend within my means, not on anyone else's account; I have no debt; I have sought no social welfare benefits in the process , though it has bled me. YET, I am referred to as "a bleeding heart LIBERAL"

Jim and I have mutual friends/acquaintances who are staunch REPUBLICANS who've declared bankruptcy not once, but TWICE and STILL spend like they have it! Something is dramatically wrong with this picture.

Hi Earthy. Frankly, I have mostly severed my friendships with today's conservatives. I've had it with them as I witnessed them slowly falling into the abyss, and that began happening well before Trump. My liberal friends and I have shared similar experiences over time. These are just not nice people, totally lack any comprehension whatsoever of empathy unless they are whining about not receiving any from others. It is not just moral bankruptcy either. There is a serious intellectual deficiency too. It just got to the point where I would hear a repeat of something I knew had roots in Fox News propaganda, or Sean Hannity BS or Limbaugh. They were so ignorant they didn't even grasp that what they were espousing had been completely discredited. So I just decided to file most of those people into the acquaintance folder and found happiness among smart, engaged people a genuine sense of humanity and goodwill and ethical standards. It's just not worth it to surround your life with people who clearly have some loose screws. There's a reason America is divided today and I just outlined why. We have a nightmare in the White House and its getting worse by the hour.

That's a sad statement, Leaf. I can't say that I have categorically chucked them all, but real close to home, I've acquired a relatively new brother-in-law who is absolutely insufferable. He lives in FOXland and insists it's the only way to stay 'informed'. I don't think he ever changes the channel. I can hardly fathom being that brain-washed. He refers to 'the other side' as a bunch of educated idiots. You know the program. Personally, I have yet to have what I consider a conversation with the man, and as time goes by, I wonder more and more what my sister ever saw or sees in him. He's a veteran thirty-year, Catholic deacon, to boot. Uh huh.

Judgment on the "face" of it

Is about WHO says it, not what is said.
Is about WHO does it, not what is done..

And although I want to express this as it applies to the political nature of this blog..
I also want everybody to look in the mirror...It is not a final destination, but begins at the beginning.. and it begins here....

I'm sure it's MY defect, but I personally have difficulty with deciphering the point you are making. I'm just a dumb-azz liberal, after all.

Chew on this: This president's BASE is barely over 30% but look at the havoc it creates!

Let's have a look at the meaning of the word BASE.

As a noun: the lowest part or edge of something, especially the part on which it rests or is supported.

As an adjective: without any moral principles, synonymous with morally bad or wrong, evil, wicked, gross.

I was looking at some old blogs from 2013.......the Repubs on this site did a lot of complaining about the Obama's spending on travel and how much time he spent golfing and holidays......the same people have no complaints about Trump..........so weird.....

I remember it well. People need to be ever more mindful of the rhetoric that stirs up and feeds a conflict. It snowballs. And too often, it equates to sheer propaganda in attempt to persuade.

Yesterday in deep thought while raking leaves LOL----- I decided the U.S. could not win a war. We would be to busy fighting each other similar to the middle easterners.

What is it that turns people so dead set against each other. In the 50s people could disagree and still respect each other.
Party On!

I don't disagree with you at all ..... 'divided we fall' is NOT a new concept. Creating wedges is the archetypal, mischievous art form.

Just for variety who not try your shopping channel, they have very interesting products? I bought some Australian laundry soap as a stocking stuffer for my daughter. It was supposed to give you a sparkling clean wash and it was to last for two years. She called me after the holidays to tell me she never had such white whites and as of today the soap is still going strong.

If you sever a " friendship " over who someone voted for, it wasn't a friendship to start with. Don't sprain your arm patting yourself on the back.
I don't need to be surrounded by a jackass at the age of 67, or someone who constantly burps vulgar language or some gun nut determined to blow his penis to smithereens with his gun in a moment of panic when he think Hitler walked his dog on their lawn.

Read what i said differently.. and forget I'm the one that said it..

I wasn't accusing you of anything....

My point was that preconceived notions of the person.. gives a preconceived notions of what they are talking about..

I try not to do it..really... I try.. but some people just won't let me..
