Have you heard it sung to the tune from "House of the Rising Sun"?

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Lovely blog ET.....Happy Solstice to you and all those who welcome the returning Sun.......My favourite version of Amazing Grace is by Anne Murray. This is because my Mother listened to Anne Murray a lot when I was growing up and she would sing along to Amazing Grace. My mother had a lovely voice.....my parents met in a cathedral choir in Oslo.......also sang this in a church choir and would sometimes join in with Anne and my mother........My next favourite is Aretha Franklin.........

Thank you for the invitation to enjoy a heavenly afternoon with you ET :- ) I followed your recommendations, and like you, found the bagpipes particularly stirring (had a sudden flashback to Peter Jackson's recent 'They Shall Not Grow Old' WW1 documentary and tough, kilt wearing Scottish soldiers/warriors). I was more familiar with Judy Collin's version of 'Amazing Grace', and while listening to the recommendations (utube), came across jazz, blues, gospel vocalist Lizz Wright's soulful interpretation (Amazing Grace (a capella) ). Also a short but heartfelt version by Rod Stewart - hits the mark. Warm wishes for a joyful Christmas and happy New Year ET :- )

Robin Mark of Revival in Belfast fame. I had the privilege of listening to him in a local area church - a rare privilege.

I've never been a big fan of the song Amazing Grace, although the life story of its author ("Servant of Slaves") is an interesting one, even though I didn't finish the book. My preference in no way diminishes the greatness of this classic hymn.

One I did find on YouTube that I think is both heavenly and masterly performed is an offertory at 'First Baptist Dallas' of "Great is Thy Faithfulness"

Thanks to the 'HWBush' blog by Liszt, and ET as well for your remembrance of these timeless greats
