My whole adult life I have used men's bathrooms when there is a long lineup for the women's and none for the men's, which is the case surprisingly often......maybe not so surprising when considering the urinals.....I remember being out with both my children, a girl and a boy and often they both had to go at the same time.....sometimes the boy had to go and so I brought him with me into the girl's.......and my husband brought our daughter into the men's when she and/or her brother had to go......Everyone I know does this, it's never been a problem.......

"You have a transgender person who identifies as a woman and wants to use the woman's bathroom"....Why don't you have any empathy for the trans person?.....she feels uncomfortable and threatened in the men's bathroom......

Not a problem for me, IF it is a single person bathroom, like in the hospital hallways or at gas stations. It's those with multiple stalls and urinals that become the issue to me like in Walmart and similar locations.

Not a problem for me at all.... as long as they do not have male urinals in the common area. Unisex closed bathroom stalls are becoming more and more the norm.

That the area is well maintained in cleanliness is my main concern.

My first thought was the time we were in Florida at a Bash. I went to the bathroom and went in the door, not looking at which door. The first thing that stared me in the face when I walked out of the stall was a urinal...….Lordy!

I look at the sign on the door now!!!

I used to be more concerned about my young sons using the men's restroom unsupervised that I would be a transgendered person coming into a woman's restroom. For some people, they are more into humiliating the transgendered person than they are the fact that they are using the restroom.

I don't normally use male bathrooms. The bathroom in Safeway is both male and female and it is gross. I have to be practically peeing in my pants before I will use it. I used to work with a lady who if she used public washrooms she squats and does not sit on the toilet seat. I recall way back when I was at a train station in Germany I mistakenly went to the wrong bathroom and ended up in the men's. I realized my mistake when I saw all the men standing in front of the urinals. They also saw me and I had to listen to the tittering all the way back up the stairs and while I was sitting in the train station. I guess I didn't know the German word for men at the time and that is why I ended up in their washroom. I laugh about it now when I recall the story.

An interesting issue, ET. Thinking about it, when I am at a place that has one washroom for all, it is a single toilet washroom. I don't believe I have been in a unisex facility with several stalls. Society has made us accustomed to women and men having separate areas. Due to that, I am uncomfortable if a man is there. In reality, if not for my upbringing there is no logical reason why the washroom can't be shared by both sexes, as long as no urinals are there, as was pointed out already.
