PHOTO-FRIDAY ..MACRO

Amulets, Talismans, Charms

I have an abundance of them around my home, on my person and in my car..

AND...............
They hang above the dashboard of my Oldsmobile. I still have figured out it's name but for now I am just calling it the Great Blue Granddaddy.

St. Christopher is The Saint of Safe Traveler. He protects my car, all the passengers in my car, and anybody surrounding my car. He's been my buddy while driving to and from work in that obnoxious snow and ice.

The Fact that St. Christopher got booted out of Sainthood by the Powers to Be makes me like him even more. It appeals to my Anti-Establishment Soul.

I also keep a Hamsa Revolving Eye Pendant. According to tradition, the hamsa wearer gains protection from the destructive powers of the Evil Eye, thus preventing disease, poverty, accidents or other misfortune from befalling the wearer.

My Granddaddy Winterstein needed one of these before he went to the SpiritWorld because of a car accident in the storm.

I also keep a Pentacle among my Protective Charms. It honors my Magickal Appalachian Many Great Grandmothers. I've inherited their traits and walk in their footsteps with honor.

Where are the Witches? Where did they come from? Maybe your Great Great Great Grandmother was one.

a ten year legal battle, the circled pentagram (referred to as a pentacle by applicants and the court case) was added to the list of 38 approved religious symbols to be placed on the tombstones of fallen service members at Arlington National Cemetery on 24 April 2007. The decision was following 10 applications of families of fallen soldiers who practiced Wicca. The government paid the families the $225,000 dollars to settle their pending lawsuits

If only I could legally have an Eagle Feather to have among my charms.

Shortly after St. Christopher was taken off the good guy list, I was driving from near San Diego to cental Illinois in a little VW bug. Mom was in the seat beside me, my girls were young and sitting in the back. I made a turn to go north, the car hit something slick and we spun around and went backward on the grass, narrowly missing a bridge but hit a small guard rail. We sat there stunned for a few minutes. Mom said, it was okay, she always wore a charm bracelet and said she put her hand around St. Christopher on the bracelet. She said, he still is around! The only damage was to the tailpipe where it connects to the muffler. We drove on with a noisy muffler and had it replaced in Illinois.
