Defining Someone Else's Spirituality

When Former President George "Dubya" Bush defined himself as a "Born Again Christian" most folks never questioned the fact that he is a Christian. Even the folks who disagreed with his politics don't question his "Born Again" status.

It seems to me that the requirement for being a Christian is to simply declare themselves a Christian aka Accepting Christ as their savior.

They don't even have to be a nice person. A total azzzzzzzzzzzzzhole can be a Christian if they declare themselves one.

Now there is much ado about the Status with President Obama's claims Obama was born in Kenya and is a secret Muslim.

Obama belonged to a predominately Black Christian Church in Chicago. Even if Folks disagreed with Reverend Wright's rhetorics and define the man of the cloth as an azzzzzzzzzzzzhole. It still make him a Christian.

I have a Holier than Thou Sister-In-Law who has declared my sister and I "Wicked and Evil" because we do not follow the same Spiritual Path that she does.

My sister says there is a difference between Saying you are a Christan and Being a Christian.
WHATEVER!

I think my sister-in-law has to put others in a villain status to maintain her illusions of Spiritual Superiority. Nevertheless, I think my Sister-In-Law is a Christian because she declares herself one despite her flawed logic.

My Sister follows the Christian Path.
I consider myself a Deist.

Deism in the philosophy of religion is the standpoint that reason and observation of the natural world, without the need for organized religion, can determine that a supreme being created the universe. Further the term often implies that this supreme being does not intervene in human affairs or suspend the natural laws of the universe. Deists typically reject supernatural events such as prophecy and miracles, tending to assert that God (or "The Supreme Architect") has a plan for the universe that is not to be altered by intervention in the affairs of human life. Deists believe in the existence of God without any reliance on revealed religion, religious authority or holy books.per gOOgle Research.

No matter what we all classify ourselves as, it is and should be a personal thing for us that doesn't include others and others opinions
thereof....isn't it silly for people to fight about their own Spirituality when it is a personal thing? Spirituality is singular,
no one other shares our own. Individuality is singular, not plural.
All else is just opinion and leads to arguments. Individuality is the only way to having a peaceful spirit. These claims by others of religious hypocrisy are ridiculous. One can only claim their own righteousness, not anothers.

There is nothing more intensely personal in any individual's life than their relationship with the Ultimate Power, regardless of what you call that power. Not children, not family, not spouse...certainly not a job...is more personal that your relationship with the hereafter. And however that's framed is your business. There isn't likely to be anyone who can shake you from your belief. SILENCE you, yes. Change you, unlikely unless your faith was on shaky grounds to begin with.

THAT said, only an idiot accepts things blindly, at face value. You owe it to yourself to constantly check the core of your belief system...and make those changes as your understanding grows. Sadly in this world there are too many people who don't grow and never understand.

Just because you have silenced a man does not mean you have changed his mind.

Still, I rather think that many of them saw the turmoil created by the various religious sects across the "civilized" world of their time and wanted to head much of that nonsense off. They almost succeeded.

Just because you have silenced a man does not mean you have changed his mind.

Christianity is not what you say. It is what you do. If you follow the rules of Christ. Then all falls into place. Unfortunately it was Him who said. "Not everyone who says unto me Lord, Lord will enter into the kingdom of heaven. So all being as they are I look at what a person does. Not what they say to know or not.

And as for the "wicked and evil" side. I would like to get to know you to find out exactly how wicked and evil you really are. It might be just the thing I'm looking for. LOL

Don't worry about what others say.

The times that someone has tried to impose their concept of spirituality on me it's usually been a woman.

I've been urged to communicate more, share my feelings, become emotionally vulnerable, to mention the obvious ones.

People can't seem to understand that just because something works for them, it may not work for someone else.

Why is it we can accept that people have different hobbies, but not differing approaches to one's internal life?
