WV Energy By Any Other Name in Washington DC

When I was standing in the Hart Senate Lobby, it was easy to spot Senator Joe Manchin's office on the third floor. All I had to do is look up and see the FRIENDS OF COAL sign in window of his office.

Upon walking into Senator Shelly Capito's office - is a life size photo of a coal miner covered in dust standing next to a . A few folks in my lobbying group found it upsetting. REALITY CHECK!!!! If the Senators were Foes of Coal - They would NOT get reelected. Hillary got booed right out of an event because of her stance on coal.

I listen closely to what the Senators have to say. Maine needs West Virginia Coal and fuel from the pipelines in order to stay warm in the winter. Tim Caine says we have to sacrifice for the greater good and modern living. Shelly Capito hides under her desk when the environmentalists walk in. Senator Manchin always welcomes his constituents but seeks the balance. Is it possible to turn coal and natural gas into clean energy?

That is what I will be talking to him about in late June. I just hope that my return home won't be like it was last year. I got off the train to the 1000 year flood.

Interesting. At least face to face, you know they hear you...... sending a letter always made me wonder if it even got read. From the form letters I get back, I don't think so.

    Quoting  :

I do talk to political representatives. That is why I was in the Senate Buildings in Washington DC. Somehow, I don't suspect that the EPA is high on Trump's agenda.

You can make phone calls and get to know the staff. They usually have hold town hall meetings, and they all have state offices if you want to pay them a visit. You can make appointments and do drop in's. It is actually interesting going to the offices from the different states. They offer goodies - Orange Juice from Florida, Peanuts from Georgia, Potato Chips from Idaho, ext. It's a good way to get breakfast while lobbying. Your Illinois Senator Duckworth has all kinds of goodies. She is awesome. You are very fortunate to have her.

I'd rather deal with carbon problems than nuclear problems like Chernobyl and Fukushima. I think the world can handle carbon easier.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.
