The Corset in my Closet & Lots of Fun at the Trump Hotel It is amazing how when packing for a trip - I always have the feeling that I forgot something and wishing that I packed a whole lot lighter when I am coming home. So this year, I've taken FOUR trips to Washington DC. I am very good at travelling on a shoestring but the one thing I forgot to pack this time is was a formal dress. I have three in my closet that I have never worn because I never have the occasion to wear them. Thursday, I took the Metro to DAR headquarters and was horrified to note that everybody was wearing formal attire. Gadzooks. I left and came back the next day in my jeans. I spent the day in the Library which requires climbing stairs and moving rolling bookcases. Jeans are much more practical than formal attire for these activities. I have seriously considered selling those formal dresses on the bay. I listed the corset in my closet for sale. REALISTICALLY will I ever have the opportunity to utilize these garments? Do I even WANT the opportunity to utilize these garments? Maybe I will wear one of those formal dresses the next time I go to the Greenbrier Theatre when they livestream Operas from the Met. There were several DAR sisters who stayed at the Trump Hotel. The cost is $400. a night at the low end and $5000. a night at the High End. I was told that they partied all night. That is not my forte. So I stayed at the William Penn House - $45. a night - simple breakfast included and walking distance to Capitol Hill. I went to the Senate Building before heading to DAR headquarters. THAT is my forte!!!   Abracadabra  |
