Bible Eating Dogs and Koran Burning Preachers

My 12 Step Training taught me to connect with God of my understanding.
It was a relief to not have to listen to a Preacher ranting about all that "Fire, Brimstone, God is gonna get ya!" nonsense.

Since that time, I have been baptized, sprinkled, confirmed, smudged, sweat lodged, and survived some very unusual initiations including a Quaker Clearing Committee.

Currently, I meditate with the Quakers although the politically correct term is silent worship.

I found the Episcopalian educated in their thinking. Yes there is a God who proves himself through coincidences. The Bible contains Truths but may not be all literal Facts. So What
.

Mythology is not a bad thing - Many Major Religions explain things through Mythology.

Years ago, The got ahold of my Bible and chewed it up to Smithereens. The Vicar suggested that I simply throw it away and buy a new Bible. That was an easy solution.

The Catholics burnt Martin Luther's Version of the Bible but it didn't stop the Lutherans from creating a Reformation.

If Ben Ladin opted to Burn Bibles - It won't stop Christians from being Christians. The Christian Bookstores could charge him double for the Bibles.

There is much ado about a Loonytoon Preacher who wants to burn the Koran on September 11th. This is really stupid.

Nevertheless, Preacher Terry Jones has a solid constitutional right to burn any book he wants as long as he doesn't violate fire code
. If he burns Korans, it doesn't change the words in the ones that the Lawabidding Citizens in the United States
Possess.

The only thing Preacher Terry Jones actions accomplish is to reveal him for the nutcase that he is. He is the reason why some folks opts to be non christians.

Big Firetrucking Deal if the Radical Islamics in the other countries that they oppress are offended. They are looking for excused to be offended so that they can control their people.

They are manipulating Spirituality for Political Power.

The ate my Bible but it didn't stop me from finding a Spiritual Walk

Very good, Star. As for that "preacher", all his actions are doing is stirring up strife. Sadly, there are those who will follow after him blindly in that action, and then scream bloody murder if it brings a retaliation from radical Islamists.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Couldn't agree more, besides, some of the preachers I have met throughout my life that preached about hell and damnation were the biggest phonies I have ever known! The stories I could tell, lol.

This preacher sounds like a total crackpot!

I don't think most Christians have a clue how pervasive Christianity is in the minds of Westerners. About 10 years ago I was in a relationship with a man who was really into workshops and talked me into going to a couples relationship strengthening thing. A lot of my acquaintances at the time were into New Age Spirituality, but I was horrified by the awful hodge-podge nonsense. My man-friend assured me that there was no Christianity, New Ageism or any other religion I had to take part in, so, to please him, I went. It really was remarkably silly, but I played along until the facilitator asked this question " What do you think God's will is for your life?" Say what?......I was making sounds, and the facilitator said......Now,
now, I know what you're going to say, you don't like the name "God".....well, you can call it something else...."Higher Power" or whatever works for you........Hello.......I said that the name is not the problem.......The question makes a long line of assumptions.....very deep and important assumptions.
The question assumes that there is this entity that created everything, knows,
sees, hears everything but won't allow me to detect It with the very senses It gave me for making sense of the World..........This super-entity also has a personal interest in the lives of 7.6 billion Humans ......millions that are suffering great pain all the time, who suffer horrendously from being invaded by diseases created by this All Loving entity who allows children's eyes to be devoured by insects.......This cruel dictator has an opinion about how I live my life......has a will for my life and if I can somehow, by some mysterious way, I can guess what this entity wants for me, I will be better off in some way.........

That's one Hell of a lot of assumptions for a question that the facilitator and all the other participants who all said they weren't Religious and all who accepted these assumptions without question.....just went along with it, because Culture.....hundreds of generations of just going along with the Party Line without even thinking.......

Most People, in my experience don't even know what they believe.....They have never taken their beliefs out of the house and aired them.......examined them.........just towed the line......And that goes for all the Religions. That's why I find it so tragic when people call children Christian Children or Catholic Children or Muslim Children.......Children's minds are still free.....Please God let them be free.

Thanks for letting me rant on your blog you free-spirited open-minded blogger you.
