POSTERITY!!! French Interferance in U.S. Presidential Election!

As long as there is Government, there will be a difference of opinion. Everyone will take a side in favor of the many or the few. Nothing can add to what has already been said or what will continue to be said in the future.

Whether you or I were right Posterity must judge
quoted by Thomas Jefferson

After the progress of the French Revolution led to war between Great Britain and France in 1793, Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson was among those who thought the United States should support France, its champion during the Revolutionary War. Instead, Washington sided with his pro-British Treasury secretary, Alexander Hamilton, and others who argued that the United States should remain neutral in the conflict per gOOgle Research

When George Washington opted not to run a third term. The French put out the message that the only way to avoid a war with France is for Jefferson to be elected.

They Planted FAKE NEWS

The FAKE NEWS didn't work.

In early February 1797, the election results came in: Federalist John Adams won the presidency by a narrow margin, and Jefferson became vice president. It was not a Love Match made in heaven.
