Echocardiograms, the DAR, and taking the Knee!!!

Last summer, I was talking to one of my DAR sisters - she was talking about her tachycardia which I also have issues with. She mentioned getting an echocardiogram which consisted of a needle being plunged into the heart. I should have REALLY gOOglesearched it when the doctor scheduled me for one.

I went to the appointment this morning, a tad bit concerned. That sounds REALLY painful but I am not one to whine and complain. I was delighted to find out there no needles involved. I got out of the appointment in time to drive to the monthly DAR Meeting.

The DAR is a patriotic organization but stays out of politics. A few of the sisters including the one with the tachycardia issue asked me "Where were you last month?" I was in Washington D.C. being an activist. Most of the sisters lean to the right but not all of them. Our opening included the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the Star Spangle Banner. "Soooooooooooooooo, I asked the women sitting next to me, do you think I should kneel when we sing the National Anthem?"

"Don't start that!" she admonished me. The problem is that at my age, it's very difficult to get on my knees and even more difficult to get back up. It is not the right place to make a political statement. If I were on my knees, it would be to Thank God that echocardiogram didn't include needles.

Later we were discussing the policy change of allowing new members to automatically join if they qualify versus voting them in. There was discussion about a mother joining a chapter and wanting her to also join the chapter. HOWEVER the was on parole with three felony conviction.

Dang! It's a good thing I didn't tell "ya all" about my 1987 "Disturbing the Peace" conviction before you voted me in. I had to do community service. They concluded that it had to be from a protest. There are some detail - I don't need to divulge.

I wonder what your DAR sister was talking about? The only time I can think of, when a needle is plunged into the heart is when adrenalin is administered straight into the heat muscle during heart failure.
Hopefully, they find nothing wrong....... but then I always wonder if nothing is wrong, why is there a problem? So maybe, some little thing wrong that can be easily corrected? Anyway, all the best to you!
