Happy Boxing Day!!!!

This is celebrated in Great Britain and Canada the day after Christmas. There are many different tales about it's beginnings. The master of the house would give his servants the day off along with boxes of food, produce and gifts. Some folks considered it an opportunity to swim the English Channel. Perhaps in the United States, the half off after Christmas sales is the tradition. It's a time to dine on Holiday left overs.

My Holiday plans did not go as expected. My younger and I had plans to fly to Atlanta to spend time with my older and his family. (Grandbaby's First Christmas!!!) I booked with two separate airlines. The first airline cancelled and the second one would not rebook.

So it was Chinese Cuisine for the younger and I. We arrived a little after Noon and the hostess suggested that we go there for dinner too. Yeah Right! Left over Chinese on Boxing Day might work - twice in one day. Naw!!! I had cereal for dinner.

We will be celebrating Grandbaby's first Valentine's Day instead. Life on life's terms. It's all good.

It was definitely a White X-Mas but happily not a blizzard. That would have been problematic.

I guess the origins of the Boxing Day tradition have always been something of a mystery, haven't they? I've heard so many different explanations of them over the years. We used to say it was the day to throw away the empty Christmas present boxes. Who knows?

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Very nice star, thanks

It is written that St Stephen was the first Christian martyr or protomartyr. Information about him come from the Acts of the Apostles chapter 6, 7 and 8. The Feast of St Stephen is celebrated on the 26th of December in the Latin Church and on December 27 in Eastern Christianity.
Good King Wenceslas was celebrating the Feast of Stephen (remember him?) and saw a poor peasant collecting fire wood. King Wenceslas had his servant gather food and fire wood, then he and his servant left the offerings outside the peasant's home. Boxing day stems from this act of kindness by Good King Wenceslas. Or so the story goes.
What ever the reason, give from the heart and a Happy Boxing day to everyone.

Oh dear! How unfortunate that your travel plans didn't work out! I know that you and your son made the best of it. You always seem to have such a positive attitude!

Wishing you and your family a Healthy and Peaceful 2018!!

Boxing Day here in Canada seems to have become a shopping and present return/exchange day.
For me, it's looking forward to that hot turkey sandwich and picking at the Christmas dinner leftovers...... yummy!!

Ah yes, life on life's terms..... we do take it as we get it, don't we? It's how we respond to the events of life that is important. Hope your Valentine travel plans go smoothly.
Guess I'll post a blog about our Christmas too. It was quiet, except when I got the sniffles, remembering Christmases past.
May the New Year bring you and yours much health, happiness, and prosperity.
