An Apology Versus Amends for FOSSIL!!! My life as a long time 12 Stepper dictates that I take the High Road. The longer I have been on this road, the narrower the path gets. This is not always easy because frequently the low road seems so much more interesting. Recently, there has been much ado about apologies being owed on this site. Sometimes an apology will suffice. However, there are other times when " I’m sorry" will not do. This is where amends comes into . It is counterproductive to make an apology and continue the same behavior that caused the harm in the first place. It is like putting on a band aid and peeling the ab of the wound before it can heal. An Amends is the better option. An amends is recognizing and taking responsibility for our rew-ups. It is taking action to fix it. It is not my place to take some else's inventory. The Dubious Normies can act silly as they please without consequences or perhaps they deal with the consequences better or they really don't care about the consequences. Whatever!!! It can be like going into a bar as a teetotaler and watching the drunks make azzzzzes out of themselves. It's a source of amusement. I certainly don't have to apologize my political choices, the causes that I support or the football team that I cheer for. Nevertheless, when I compare some with opposing viewpoints to a crossdressing tango dancer with an ar·thri·tic azzzzzzz, that is NOT taking the High Road. The motivation of Tit for Tat is not a valid excuse either. Dang! Sometimes that Low Road seems so much fun but taking the High Road is better than the alternative.   Abracadabra  |

I agree with the premise of what you said, but the reason behind it escapes me..... I guess I missed something. However, if this is between you and Fossil, then it really doesn't concern me, does it?  Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Fossil and I are on opposite sides of the political spectrum. He has suggested that I have masculine traits because of that fact. I responded by suggesting that he is a cross dresser in a pink tutu while wearing Mary Jane Shoes, with a curly blonde wig while doing the tango on a football field. I have to recognize that tit for tat responses is not an example of taking the high road. It is kind of like an exchange of Yo Mama Jokes. It starts out being fun but does not contribute to the perfection of the soul Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Star has been here for a very long time, and we have seen some really flaming wars over in the advice lines of the magazine .... and sadly, been involved in some of them. But there are friends in here..... I have several that I consider my friend, some I've met and some I haven't. We don't always agree on everything, but that is beauty of friendships, we can agree to disagree and remain friends. Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Sadly, many SFF members have left the site and moved over to FB because of the ugliness I remember being the target of a flame war and prefer to avoid a repeat of that scenerio nor do I want to act like the bullies. I KNOW the best way to deal with it is to ignore it but sometimes it is so tempting to respond. The activity on the magazine is nil and most of the messages come from phony catfish (both male and female). I long for the old days when we had the porch and some sense of comradery. Abracadabra

I came here in about 2004. I had an earlier profile that got booted because of the flame wars. I called the SFF Police about getting it reinstated and they told me that would not reinstate and all future profiles would also get booted out. That worked out really well. I'm still here.  Abracadabra

Perhaps they should have added a Step 13 to teach you how to write clearly. You are approaching Leafy-level. As far as what you post, what sports you follow, or your ambiguous "amends versus apology" thread...I really don't care. Fossil Abracadabra

I always take the higher road.. It's kind of a relative term.....relatively.. mine is always higher.... I let them choose their road... and I just makes sure mine higher.. not only that.. I give people the benefit of the doubt.. until there is no doubt. when there is no doubt..... all road are off....
