A Candle for Annie (12st Step Spiritual Advisor)

The past few years, so many of my near and dear loved ones have crossed over to the other side. It is all part of the journey. We really don't know what is one the other side until we get there.

I met Anne over 40 years ago when I walked into a 12 Step Group as the youngest member of the group. I relapsed a few times but eventually - I found myself pregnant with my and on shaky grounds. I knew that it would be totally selfish to relapses into active alcoholism when I was confronted with the responsibility of a . It was time to get serious about recovery.

Anne and I connected. She became my sponsor and other women started coming to her. She was the best of the best. Last month, I tried calling her. No answer. I knew that she had been unwell. I contacted her who advised me that he set her up with assisted care. I was not surprised when one of my 12 Step "Sisters" contacted me to tell me that Anne passed last month.

Anne has graduated and earned her angel wings. All I can do is utilize and pass on the lessons that she taught me.

What better way to honor my Catholic Spiritual Advisor than to travel to St. Augustine, Florida and light a candle for her at the First Catholic Parish established in the 1500's. I also lit a candle for my grouchy Catholic mother-in-law and a few others just because I can.

My sincerest sympathies on the death of your friend, who had been such an important part of your life.

I have always felt that people [good or bad] enter or leave our lives for a reason.

Warm Hugsss~~~

It was sweet of you to make the remembrances. Hope you are enjoying your trip. Going to take the zip line?

Star, I actually did LOL at this response! And I truly understand the battle between the mind and the body as we get older. My body is growing older, but my mind isn't and gets upset that my body denies it's ideas.

Star.... my condolences to your friend Annie... bless you for keeping her with you in your heart.... as for passing on the zip line, unfortunately the mind says go for it but the body says 'Oh for God's sake, don't be silly'!! Annie will always be in your heart; she gave you such great advantage to begin a new life!!
