Infidels and Mockingbirds in the SNOW!!!!

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.”
― St. Thomas Aquinas

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be Desiderada

Step Three - Made a decision to turn our will and lives over to the care of God as we understood him

So last week, I got off the train from Florida only to be greeted by West Virginia snow.

I asked a simply question - Does God choose sides over football teams or political parties? The Infidels and Mockingbirds started chirping and gasLIGHTING away, "There is no God but Elvis is ALIVE!!!!"

I can only share my experiences and prospective. I suspect that if the Infidels put enough energy into Elvis, he could become a deity. They can create their own deity and call it Roxyboobs. They can simply declare themselves a power greater than all. Reasonable minds also indulge in fantasies.

Two years ago, we had a devastating flood in our community. It was the Church Doors that opened for folks who lost their homes. It was the Church Folks who came with Food, Water, Building Supplies, Labor, Ad Infinitum. I didn't see a single member from the Richard Dawkins Fan Club show up to help. God is more than just a definition or belief. God is action working through others.

So keep singing those mockingbird songs. The messages will get lost in the snowstorm.

I agree with Dan -- a fine blog. Blessed be those who do not engage in cheap partisanship on social media! (A new beatitude.)

Max Ehrmann was a Baptist...The pronoun he uses in this line from his poem makes the sentence self-contradictory. Whatever you perceive "Him" to be, immediately limits and defines God........

The key is to be at peace with your decisions and when one is truly at peace within oneself, there is no need to degrade others for theirs.

The older I get, the less I care what people think of me, so the older I get, the more I enjoy life.

When I read your simple question--Does God choose sides over football teams?
    I thought it was ridiculous.
Even more ridiculous that you complain about the replies you received to an asinine question.
    Party On!

An atheist was rowing at the lake, when suddenly the Loch Ness monster attacked and grabbed him from his boat.

He panicked and shouted "God help me!", and suddenly, the monster and everything around him just stopped.

A voice from the heavens boomed "You say you dont believe in me, but now you are asking for my help?"

The atheist looked up and said: Well, ten seconds ago I didnt believe in the Loch Ness Monster either!

the feminine pronoun is equally defining and self-contradictory. I remember seeing that Max Ehrmann poster in the 60s and 70s all over the place.....I always thought it was sentimental, mushy and vague.......

You can nitpick to the point of missing the message.

You can be vague and sentimental to the point of finding the message that you want to find anywhere.........It's just a derpy poem........not a divine message no matter how badly you desire a "message".........Vagueness leaves spaces where you can insert the "message" of your choice......If some higher consciousness really wanted to impart a message to Humans, why so vague.? Surely a God with ultimate powers, as you claim, has the ability to communicate clearly.....Thousands of years of Humans running around making up possible messages, claiming they know what God wants and they all disagree with each other to the extent that they kill and torture other Humans over it and God just sits back and chuckles.......what a scam.
