Old B/F's, Arlington/RiversideCemetery&Columbarium for Veterans

I was on Ancestry checking out old b/f's. The mortal remains of the first man I ever got drunk over resides in Arlington National Cemetary while the mortal remains of the man that I stayed sober in spite of resides in Riverside National Cemetary.

My research revealed that the cremated remains of veterans often remain on shelves for "a while" until a place is built to put them. I have visited Mr. McC's Columbarium in Arlington Cemetary but it is highly unlikely that I will fly to California to visit Mr. O's Columbarium in Riverside National Cemetary.

My first inclination was to kick Mr. McC's tombstone (only joking) but he was in a shelve too high on the columbarium thus not a practical venture. So I took his picture, left him some flowers and talked to him about our parachuting adventures before visiting the rest of the cemetery. He was a Korean War Veteran.

Poor Mr. O, he sat on a shelve for quite a few years before a columbarium was built for him. He was disenfranchised from his with the exception of his oldest and nobody wanted to claim Mr. O so he was at the mercy of the veterans. His oldest asked his aunt for money to cremate him. Her response was that he was already cremated. He died in a house fire. Ironically, my older who is also Mr. O's would have covered the expenses.

I asked my how Mr. O made it out of the Military with a 2nd Class Private Ranking. Did he even make it out of boot camp. My suggested that perhaps he was drafted. They get in and out of the military quickly. My intuition tells me that there is a story behind his humble ranking but luckily the Veterans took him when no one else would.

My father on the other hand, started his military career in Korea and ended it in Vietnam. He is Sergeant Dad.

Several heroes in your life, Star, regardless of rank or manner of enlistment or induction.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

My younger son's father is also a Vietnam War Veteran. He went to Vietnam at the age of 17. My older son was in the Navy and Airforce during the Gulf War Conflict, I have a niece who also served in Bosnia and Iraq.

I see the McCoy but dont see any Hatfields.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.
