Boycotts For Politics Often Backfire!!!

So now Conservatives can't enjoy Football, Harley Davidson Motorcycles or Niki Shoes. It is possible that Liberals who have never been to football games will start attending. Personally, I would prefer to go the Opera.

I remember when it was suggested that folks boycott Chick-Fil-A because of the owner's stance on gay marriages. What resulted is that the Conservatives got together and pack the restaurants to buy Chick-Fil-A sandwiches.

I have personally never been to a Chick-Fil-A because I would have to travel 60 miles to get to one. I would have to drive all the way to New Jersey if I wanted an In N Out burger. I don't boycott companies because of their pollical/religious beliefs but I am not especially inspired to do business with Chick-Fil-A. I did buy a sandwich from a vendor at an AA convention in Atlanta only because I was hungry and every thing else was overpriced junk food.

Penzey"s Spice is another story. The conservatives suggested a Penzey Spice boycott because of their liberal stance. Dang, I just found the PERFECT x-mas gift for my -in-law and I may as well order some for myself. I was contacted by Penzey Spice and asked if I would distribute KIND HEART pins for everyone on the Rally Bus for the Women's March in Washington DC.

Penzey Spice gains a loyal customer and I have more spices in my life. It's all good.

In general, I think boycotts are ridiculous. If I chose to not watch or buy something because I am disgusted by actions, that is my business, but I'll not tell others that they should do the same.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Totally agreed. I try to support local business and buy Fair Trade much as possible but someone's political/religious views are their business. Everyone needs to make a living and has the right to do so.

I boycott some companies because they have unhealthy practices.....unhealthy for the environment and the creatures, including Humans.....like Nestle's......I don't ask anyone else to boycott, but I do share information about their practices and warn people of the hazards of using or ingesting certain products.......I do a lot of beach clean-up and add the information of what plastic products are prevalent and add my observations to a larger picture........Plastic shell casings are showing up in huge quantities. Also plastic tampon applicators...........and plastic bottles of course......always those F-ing bottles.

I don't necessarily boycott some companies. I just don't do business with them. I would rather deal with a local farmer because I know how the product is grown. I will buy something that is Fair Trade because I know the workers are treated with dignity whereas I don't know what is happening for the workers in foreign business or even American who go aboard for cheaper labor.
