State Troopers and Keeping Track of Mozart!!!

This is my fourth year as a ticket seller at the West Virginia State Fair. The first year I lost my car and learned my lesson. Afterward, I would take a photo of the lot number and nearby landmarks. I post it on fb. I was able to get into the employee parking lot twice in a row this week. I was not so lucky last night.

Yesterday was a brutal day so by the time I got off work, I was exhausted. The shuttle service had already ended and I was NOT looking forward to the hike back to my vehicle.

I notice a State Trooper in a cart asking a senior with a cane if they needed a ride. The gentleman said that he had a few other folks on their way. I approached the State Trooper and asked if he assisted tired old people. He told me to climb on in. " "Yippee!!! I've always wanted to be in the back of a police vehicle, I joked. "Most people don't WANT to be in the back of police vehicles" the State Trooper replied. I didn't tell him that I actually had been in the back police car a few times but that's another story.

Lot D3, I check my FB, Opps, Lot D2 and it's close to the road by the High School. The cop asked me if I had my key popper. I used it a few years ago, He mentioned all the people who lost their cars that day. I know exactly where it's at. In fact, I see Mozart's silver behind right now. He took me to my car and I thanked him. What a lifesaver. A true hero with wings.

Last year when I was taking photos of the lot number and landmarks, "the trooper asked me "What the heck was I doing!" The trooper that I met last night might even suggest it to a few people.

The same women are ticket sellers at the State Fair year after year. It's is like a reunion of old friends and new friends being added to the fold.

There is a Fair Food Contest. Thus Far, I've tried the Flaming Hot Cheetos Corn Dog which is fantastic and the Maple, Bacon, Walnut Ice Cream which is heaven. I have to vote. I am leaning toward the Ice Cream but my son runs the booth for the Flaming Hot Cheetos Corn Dog.

I used to enjoy the Illinois State Fair. My husband and I would go one day and walk ALL the animal buildings, and take in everything else that struck our fancy. That was the one time a year that my mother and my sister babysat with our kids.
A few days later, we would pack a big picnic lunch and take the children. We already knew what would interest them, so we just hit those highlights with them. The Budweiser Clydesdales was always a big hit, as was the goat barn where they petted and got nibbled on by all the show goats.
As for fair food, I'm not too adventuresome. Corn dogs and funnel cakes are my favorites.

Today, I am working in the Livestock section. It has always been my favorite section to work because it's near all the really cool displays like the calf birthing center. There is always a wild bunch to work with.
