FantasiesDon'tAlwaysMeasureUpToTheReality!!!

I spent October Weekends wearing a black cape and monster make-up and a gentleman actually asked for a date. I speculated that he might run when he finally saw without my Haunted Farm attire. He may not be the one running. It might be .

I am really skeptical and jaded when it comes to a potential love connection. My last few attempts at love ended up very badly. I was stuck in BumFiretrUCK Texas and another time ditched for an alcoholic bimbo.

The same time last year, I was dating The Republican. He was a very intelligent and interesting man but whatever reason - it fizzled . So last month, I met a gentleman that I will The Democrat. Now that I am in my 60's, I have no expectations about any potential love connection. That ship has likely sailed away but life does have its surprises.

It was a shock when "The Democrat" wanted to exchange numbers considering the fact that I was working at a haunted farm attired as a scary ghost. Where is the attraction?

I called him this afternoon and suggested that we meet at Long John Silver's
Restaurant. I was in town for the Quaker Meeting and knew that the Resturant was close to his home. He mentioned going to the Presbyterian Church that morning.

A casual meeting over drinks is far less stressful than a full-blown DATE. The first half-hour, he ranted about his ex-wife. Dang! That sounds hopeful.

Next, he talked about his job as a security guard and all the youngsters who do the wild thing in their cars. How he knocks on the window and tells them to leave. I asked him if he ever did anything like that in his youth.

Afterward, he told me how he fantasized about me running through the woods at Haunted Farm wearing nothing that cape. Dah! It was FiretrUCKING cold. I should have worn long underwear under that cape.

My impression of the man is that he is stuck on fantasy and he got to know the reality, I would have a broken heart. No love connection and no second date on the horizon. Life on life's terms.

A bit of fantasy and dreaming at our age is ok, but by now, we have learned to live in the reality of how things are, not how we might like them to be. Best to feel that check in your gut early. Hope he isn't the persistent pest type of person.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I am not worried about him. Guys like that won't stay around anything real. It is always useful to have a casual coffee date and spot the red flags early on.

Yeah, those Presbyterians spend so much time arguing about which is the correct way to pray, they got no time for fun......

I suspect that folks from a lot of different religions argue that they have the one and only definition of the ultimate deity. I don't know a whole lot about Presbyterians except that they are an off-shoot of the Calvinist movement. The Calvinist originally believed that only a certain number of people were destined for heaven. I also know that the Presbyterians were the first ones to recognize gay marriages. I am not sure how this guy prays but his idea and my idea of fun are quite different.

I was just thinking about my college boyfriend. He was a PK.....His father was a Presbyterian minister and his older brother was training to be one......They were always arguing about the tiniest details of their beliefs. My boyfriend insisted that his Faith rested solely on whether Jesus rose after the crucifixion ......I said he had that in common with all Christians, but he begged to differ and then the lot of them were off again, arguing so vehemently that I left.......it was a common occurrence and seemingly enjoyed greatly......I thought it was irrelevant and extremely boring to argue about something that could never be anything but opinion......
