WilliamPennRichardNixon&BERNIE!!!!

This morning we did our First Day aka Sunday worship meeting via zOOm. first hour silent worship. I put program MUTE and played Stephen Halpern meditation music. I would never get away with it at a regular meeting but I am considering possibility of blue tooth via hearing aids. They would NEVER know the difference.

We usually share joys and concerns at the end of the meeting. Lately my life has been Ho Hum due to Covid Jail. I followed the election, watched the Inauguration, and lately everybody had been having fun with Bernie. I shared about my experience with learning to photoshop and told them that I would turn Bernie into a Quaker.

This may get me into the Religious Society of Bad Friends but here it is.

During an ecumenical assembly, a secretary rushed in shouting, “The building is on fire!”[SIZE 3]
The Methodists prayed in a corner.
The Baptists wondered where they could find water. The Quakers quietly praised God for the blessings that fire brings.
The Lutherans posted a notice on the door announcing the fire was evil.
The Roman Catholics passed the plate to cover the cost of the damage.
The Jews posted symbols on the door in hopes the fire would pass.
The Congregationalists shouted, “Every man for himself!”
The Fundamentalists proclaimed, “It’s the vengeance of God!”
The Episcopalians formed a procession and protested.
The Christian Scientists denied that there was a fire. The Presbyterians appointed a chairperson to form a committee to look into the matter and submit a written report.
...
The secretary grabbed the fire extinguisher and put the fire out.

So instead of just sitting quietly and communing with God, you sit in front of a computer and commune with God?......I can't for the life of me imagine what the point is of having a silent worship on Zoom......please explain.....

For the last twelve years Christian Republicans have been the largest group in the country opposed to and voting to destroy affordable healthcare. I'm not looking for an explanation, just stating a fact.

Chuckling at the whole blog and comment about actions of various groups. Also at the picture of a silent time on zoom..... I understand the feeling of connecting, but to be silent on zoom? Seems the meditation could be done prior to zoom, but to each their own.
As a comment on a different subject, only a fool would think this website is CONTROLLED by any certain group. Many of us have different opinions and perspectives on things, and it is idiotic to attack people for thinking differently and to write multiple blogs that no one really reads and nobody ever comments. As a member recently said to me, that kind of action by a few insults the intelligence of everyone else.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

The Quakers call it Silent Worship while I consider it a form of meditation. I consider Prayer talking to God while Meditation is listening to God. None of us are in familiar territory in many aspects of our life but somehow what we are doing is working. I've done 12 Step Meetings, our book club, astrological readings and even a funeral on Zoom. One of things I love about our Zoom Quaker meetings is the fact that several different meeting join so I can see people that I generally will only see at the yearly meeting or other events.

It's a style of worship that is part of our Sunday (First Day) meetings. It is possible to sit alone and quietly commune with God but there is also a need for connection with others. We can't meet in person so we are doing it on Zoom.
It's new territory.
