Religion and Setting Boundaries I remember my days as a Wal-Mart Cashier. Folks were constantly handing me religious pamphlets. They would do the same to the other cashiers who were ironically church going ladies. I would question why we are targeted as heretics. Fast forwarding to current times. The past month, I have been getting handwritten notes in the mail containing scripture. I don't know this woman nor do we have any mutual friends on FB. So how the heck did she get my address. The possibilities are the DAR or GOP membership lists. She could also be have checked Tax Records but that seems tedious. I checked my mail yesterday evening and there was more mail from her. This time it was a religious pamphlet. I am a total fan of the First Amendment and the Virginia Statue for Religious Freedom. I have quite a few ancestors who were banished, jailed, and beaten because of religious beliefs. Most of them relocated to the American Colonies because they wanted to live their religions in peace. Nevertheless, these letters are annoying. I can respond and request that she respect my boundaries or start throwing her mail in the trash. Why would someone who does not know me or belong to any of my circle of friends and community decide that I need notes that lecture. I am very active in my Quaker Community and it's a path that works best for me. There are no great sins in my life. It can be quite boring at time. I REALLY don't have to justify my life or spiritual path to someone who is clueless. Regardless, I have to take the High Road no matter how I decide to deal with it. If I compare it to a few of the bloggers - experience as taught me that the less energy and the less I engage , the better. Haters are going to hate because that what haters do. I think I will write her a note, respectfully asking her to respect my 1st Amendment Right as I do hers. If she continues to spam me with this stuff, it immediately goes in the trash  Abracadabra  |

It's counterproductive to give energy to naysayers and haters. Focus on those who love. Abracadabra

Why not just mark on them "Return to Sender. Address Unknown" " ...and drop them into a mailbox. Hmmm.... I think that's a song~~

I'm sure that you will handle the situation in an appropriate manner that will not be offensive to her and yet stop her behavior. As far as checkers being targeted, it's not that they are targeted, it's that those people give their pamphlets to everyone with whom they come into contact, and often checkers are it. As for the blogs, I just shake my head. Hank knows how I feel about that kind of behavior, I've told him more than once. But he tells me that he is who he is and he says what he wants to say. I just wish they would understand the damage it does to the kingdom of God. As Bob Harrington (chaplain to Bourbon Street) once told a religiously pious woman who was bragging to him how godly she is, "Woman, don't tell anyone you are a Christian, you will scare them away!" (paraphrased from memory) Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

Religious organizations are also affected by Covid.....I have a no junk mail order on my mail-box, but the religious organizations send their junk in plain envelopes with hand-written addresses to stump the automatic sorters......they are desperate for paying customers.

But why do Christians feel the need to turn other people on to their religion?........Why aren't they satisfied with their own psyches?......What is the intention in posting daily preachings on a friendship site for instance?...... It's clearly not for their own edification.....Everyone here is already on line and a daily sermon is only a click away.......The only possible reason to post a daily sermon here is for recruitment purposes........ Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.

I don't see her posts as recruitment as much as encouragement and thought provoking for those who chose to read them, and the principles in them can be applied to many situations in life, for Christians and non-Christians. Perhaps it is to give a better image of Christians? They are not hate filled, name calling, blogs like some that are posted and there is only one a day so she sure isn't hogging up the blogs. Thought provoking?......Those bland, repetitive, formula vanilla custard pudding .sermons?........That's just sad. i am really curious. while i have NEVER met the person the puppetmaster tries to sell to us. i can guess or speculate. about u if u find MABELLAS blog so bland, repetitive various flavored " sermons" as well as the daily preaching u do about Marbella n ur hatred of OUR SAVIOR. pray, tell me why on earth do u continue reading them. seeMs u may have a kink in ur armor. latent masochistic perhaps. self-abuse. many things come to mind regarding ones that subject themselves to things that offend, upset, bother, cause chaos in their lives. me think the puppetmaster also has some issues with things others like or enjoy. similar to the railing that STATUES OF OUR HEROS. TEH LEADERS OF THE CONFEDERACY. affects peoples lives I LIKE TO REFER TO THEM AS WEAK-MINDED. LETTING INANIMATE OBJECTS AFFECT/EFFECT THEIR LIVES.
