Throw Back Thursday - Sargeant Dad

I found out that my Father the captain of his high school wrestling team. He is the very last one in the bottom row at the far right. He enlisted in the Navy after graduating from high school and worked in the gallery on the ship. When he finished his term in the Navy. He enlisted in the Army where he became an MP (Military Police).

Growing up, Father taught me and my siblings obnoxious marching tunes. We also had to salute and stand an ease for him. He could never get my salute him. My could cuss like a sailor and I am sure that scared poor Sargeant Dad.

The Year MMXIII - Grumpy died. I having a really hard time with grief one night. I could actually hear and feel my Pa. He said, "You don't worry. We are taking care of your grumpy azzzzzzzz husband. He fits right in with our family. We are up here cracking jokes together. That the night that my Dad officially became my guardian angel.

A few months later, I decided to take a trip to Washington D.C. I stayed at the William Penn House and decided to run the War Memorial to honor Sargeant Dad. I was walking back to the William Penn House at about midnight and encountered a cab driver thought I was a . I was in my late 50's in running attire. was no way I resembled a lady of the night. I called him a few politically incorrect words minus the euphemisms. He got scared and ran away. I don't know what scared him more - my profanity or perhaps Sargeant Dad tapping on his shoulder and saying "BOO!!!!!"

Interesting. I find I do a lot more remembering now that I'm older...... perhaps because when I was younger, I was just too busy.

Be a prism, spreading God's light and love, not a mirror reflecting the world's hatred.
