I was there a couple of weeks ago. Pretty boring place unless you really, really like sun, sand, and surfing.

Thanks guys for all the comments. This is my very first visit to the USA and, for us, this has been one of the best vacations. Hawaii is a bit like Malaysia but is colder and drier. It also has a lot of the plants that we have like the longan and rambutan and an incredibly clear turquoise sea comparable to that at Jeju. The sceneries are sensationally beautiful, the people are friendly and we learned a bit about the culture and words. For example, they use "guys" and "good" a lot. We would definitely like to be back but would have to save and scrimp because the cost of living is quite high eg the cost of a cup of shave ice is USD4.00.
