Friday's Bouquet - A flower in the morning breeze A flower in the morning breeze Looks past between the parting leaves To shyly tease the sun. The mighty sun, his ire aroused, Erupts until his flames are doused As night curtails his rant. The saddened flower weeps a plea To beg the moon for once to see Her precious sun again. "Remove the dark to light the sky, I must reveal the reason why; To him, I must explain." The moon recedes so comes the dawn. The teary flower so forlorn Awaits with anxious heart. "Accept my love," she begs the sun, "And then we will become as one; Forever never part." The sun, however, disagrees; Toward the western sky he flees, Advancing as he tilts. The flower, stunned, admires his flight Then saddened by her loveless plight, She slumps …and slowly wilts. Inspired by Emily Dickinson's "The daisy follows soft the sun." Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past |
