Friday's Bouquet - A flower in the morning breeze

A flower in the morning breeze
Looks past between the parting leaves
To shyly tease the sun.
The mighty sun, his ire aroused,
Erupts until his flames are doused
As night curtails his rant.

The saddened flower weeps a plea
To beg the moon for once to see
Her precious sun again.
"Remove the dark to light the sky,
I must reveal the reason why;
To him, I must explain."

The moon recedes so comes the dawn.
The teary flower so forlorn
Awaits with anxious heart.
"Accept my love," she begs the sun,
"And then we will become as one;
Forever never part."

The sun, however, disagrees;
Toward the western sky he flees,
Advancing as he tilts.
The flower, stunned, admires his flight
Then saddened by her loveless plight,
She slumps …and slowly wilts.

Inspired by Emily Dickinson's "The daisy follows soft the sun."

Yes, CIB, it is a Bird of Paradise. I saw this one in Australia. I have run out of flowers so I have posted a wilted one this time.

A Bird of Paradise, wilted by the strong rays of the sun. Nice poem.
Thanks, Lee.

Hi msoosey,

Yes, it is a bird of paradise flower. The bird has many colours but this one us the most striking I have seen. I had also posted a bird of paradise that is bigger than this but is bluish-purple in colour previously.

    There once was a flower in OZ
    Traveling it wanted to go.
    While it napped, Lee snapped,
    Around the world went the photo.

Hi GLUMO,

Thank you. I have to search for a wilting flower for the poem.
I am sure your country has many beautiful flowers of this type too.

Hi Poet,

It' s good to see you back. The sun is female? I bet the poor flower did not know that and she was so heartbroken. Thank you and you have a healthy weekend.
