Photo Monday I came across this noisy bird sitted atop a Flame tree on a road in Brisbane. Is it a kookaburra? Lee Live today as if it is your last For tomorrow will soon be in the past |

What a beautiful photo, Lee! I love it! May I copy it for my collection? It makes me feel peace and hope looking to the blue sky, as if I were that bird...[/COLOR

Good morning Lee - I'm wondering if it's a black-faced cuckoo-shrike native to Australia, they're not an uncommon sight locally. The following description (courtesy google) may help - 'Adult birds have a prominent black face and throat, gray plumage, white underparts and a somewhat hooked bill. The size varies between 32 cm and 34 cm. They are slow-moving, inconspicuous birds, with a shrill, screaming call, sounding like “creearck”.' They are commonly called 'rainbirds' as they are birds thought to sing before rain. Hope this was of some help :- )
