Help me to understand?

I am not a US Citizen, but i watch a lot of CNN, Fox and Bloomberg.

Three issues: Health Care, Jobs, and Big Government seems to be consuming the News networks the most. Some things, connected to these struck me enough to warrant this blog in the hope of better understanding:

1. "The American people": Most Politicians, TV commentators, Political commentators seems to suggest that those who subscribe to their views are the "The American People"..makes me wonder if those who do not subscribe to a particular view are "Not The American People"??

2. "My Tax Dollar": I keep hearing this whenever Government spending is discussed. If i pay some money for something i need to pay, i guess i loose ownership of that money. It is not "my dollar" any more. If i pay money for a service which has been contracted by me, then im worried about what im getting for my money while it is still waiting for the service. If i dont like what i get, I object and simply choose another good or service. Where does " my Tax dollar" fit in this?

3. Taxed for Health Care: My understanding is that the US including the Govt and people are the largest donators of money to the rest of the world for a myriad number of purposes.
Surely, the American people wouldnt mind parting with some money, albeit in the form of a tax, to help bring about some health care to THEIR OWN country men that do not have?

4. Big Government: Most Governments grow in size and reach as the country expands demographically, commercially, geographically ( accesibility). Is it that the argument is being made Governments should ONLY enact laws and leave the implementation of the laws to the Private individuals/ entities? If so, what about Public Services like Internal & External Security and other Nation building activities?

If this blog appears to be "Not my place to ask" please help me bury it by not responding

p.s: Dont ask me what my Government does for me, because the answer is ZILCH!!..well, almost, lol

Many people in every country all over the world feel the same. It is just the US taking the headlines on SFF. It is global but you do not catch this here.
