Something I need to talk about

I am not a Christian now, and have not been these last 12 years or so. I have nothing against Christianity, but your understanding of God, and mine do not quite match up.
To be with my understanding of God does not require reading books or sitting inside of buildings on Sunday.
I was very ill 12 years ago, told what I had was terminal. So I prayed. Nothing fancy, mind you. Just one word, but it came from the depths of my soul.
"Help!!!!"
Nothing fancy, and surprisingly without expectation.
I got no answer other than an enormous satisfaction that I wasn't alone.
It came to me that God only had two expectations of me. That I be the very best possible person I could be for the place and the moment. And, that I treat others the way I would want to be treated, expecting nothing in return, and certainly without prejudice.
The only proof I need my God exists is the fact I am still here.
I see God everywhere I go, in the plants and the animals, and I will see God in you, when we meet.
These past 12 years I have accomplished things I never thought possible because I was in constant contact with God.
Oh yeah, I guess you can say I talk a lot with God.
I know some of you will be alienated by this blog, and I cannot help it. I wholly believe that for you, your beliefs are the right ones.
I pray you will allow me the same.

David

David, we all need to follow Our Own path and THAT is the Only way! Brightest Blessings for the New Year!

You don't sound any less of a Christian than I am. I don't go to church, I can't quote anything from the Bible....but just like you I believe.
Many of us have found God later in life (although we all know he was never really missing). There is nothing wrong with talking to God in your own home, while walking down the street, in a grocery store.

Maybe you and I aren't what some would call true Christians. That shouldn't stop either of us and all those just like us from talking to God, whenever and wherever we want.

I've never felt a need to make an appointment to talk to God....He doesn't have office hours!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Life...ya gotta love it!

I do not understand what point you are trying to make! L know there are many who believe one must be "Born Again" in order to be a Christian God Fearing Person! I for one was Baptized into my church as an infant then accepted that faith at my Confirmation at the age of 10! I do not however believe that there is any One Size Fits All Religion or Faith. I no longer p;ractice my Formal Religion but that does not mean I do not believe in God! I like the way AA puts it "A Higher Power" Or whatever way you experience that "Higher Power"! Whatever it is you believe you are still here for some "PURPOSE"!

Hello David....
If people are upset by your beliefs..well I'm in really big trouble..The really wonderful about this world we live in, is the wide variety of beliefs, and the great thing about this country is that I am free to worship (or not) as I want...I think many brave men died to give me that right....Blessings in the New Year

I believe that anyone who thinks they have any understanding of God is delusional. If such an entity exists, its characteristics are far beyond our ability to understand them.

I know exactly what you mean. i believe that God is
everywhere, I dont have to go into a Church on Sunday or pray
from a book.
I was brought up to believe in a God of Fear.
Some years ago all that changed. I now believe in a God of love.
I talk to Him all day, walking the dogs, driving the car,
doin the garden (the best place to talk to God), and I usually
heed the message, not the messenger.
I think thats what you were saying. Its a form of spirituality.
I am still a Christian tho'

I do not follow any one religion but follow some beliefs of many. I have my beliefs and I do believe there is a God. We al have to choose which path to follow and you are no exception. I force my beliefs on no one as I would expect them not to force theirs on me. I go to church but on a regular basis. I pray, I read my Bible, and I try and do my best always. I falter many times but pick up where I left off and try again. I am not in any way alienated by what you have said. You have the right to your own beliefs.

W0W, what a response.

To some understand I did not find God, rather God found me. Understand that God has no gender, no form, because God is in everything and is everywhere.
Thank you all for the great Bible quotes, but I am sorry to say I have no idea what they mean. I do like Jesus because he was truly a wise guy. He understood marketing, and knew how to package his product. Otherwise, I do not trust the book. So many contradictions. Well, the Songs of Solomon are pretty sexy, but most of these guys are really depressing and negative.
personally think you can't take that literally.
