Curiouser and Curiouser

I have just about given up on the television for any entertainment, with two exceptions, and the occasional movie. I do enjoy Mythbusters and Dirty Jobs on Discovery Channel.
With a plethora of "Reality TV" shows that are little than useless, and no writers willing to create new programming, my box now gathers dust in the corner of the living room.
The movies are usually VCRs or DVDs that I have found at the local library at the South Campus of our Community College.
And I stock up on books to while away my free time, when not involved in other things.
Today I am rereading "The Once and Future King" by EB White. Such a wonderful commentary on today's society though written over 40 years ago.
I think we have become addicted to the Tube to such an extent that a neighbor lady will turn it on the moment she gets home from work, to keep her company, and has a made a remote pouch to tie to her waist to she can change channels whenever and wherever she likes.
Instead of seeking actual companionship, as we are here.
Out of curiosity, how many of you do depend upon the TV for your entertainment, and/or companionship, like my neighbor.
Now that is a good topic for a poll I will create. What do we do, when we are alone?

Like Shay, whenever i come in and there is nobody in the house,
I turn on the TV but dont watch it. Its just for the sound ...
m not so alone then. of course i have my dogs. When the phone rings and I dont answer it straight away, they sing beautifully, bass, tenor and (female dog) soprano. It would be top of the charts if
I recorded it!

cannot keep dogs most places, where I live, so long ago I started keeping birds. The male cockatiel will sing along everytime my cellphone goes off.
