I am sorry ladies, I have a new girl friend. Her name is Ellie and she is a year old. She is a Monk Parakeet, also called a Quaker. A friend could no longer keep her, and I knew that she needed love and attention. Here she is when my friends brought her by. |

ROFL @ GETS. My thoughts are similiar to GETS. Unlike a woman, hopefully you can teach her what you want her to say. LOL Bruja The wealth of a soul is measured by how much it can feel; its poverty by how little. W. R. Inge

That looks big for a parakeet but what do I know? I have only ever had one bird and that was almost 40 years ago. Enjoy her!

Can't compete with a parrot ! Lucky you. I had a cockatoo a few yrs ago that I had to give up. Forunately the people he was given to just love him and I know he's OK. How is her vocabulary and how old is she ?

Don't go making the other girl birds jealous now. They might all decide to start talking and let you have it! Never regret growing old, the privilege is denied to many. -Anonymous

Hi Unconventionaime I had a parakeet that I taught to talk. He stayed out of his cage most of the time. He was a wonderful companion. He ate my potato chips and tried to feed me his seeds in return. He went on camping trips with me. I have many stories about him that I tell small children (and some compassionate adults). I miss him, but will not try to replace him until I am settled in my retirement home in Florida. Enjoy your new found friend Mealady
