Mr. Robert's Neighborhood, The Land of Ah Shucks

This week I attended a political focus group for the State of Kansas elections.(by the way they paid me). The point of focus group was not explained, except they wanted neither wholehearted Democrats or Republicans. I attended knowing very little about what was to transpire,

First each person was given a 15 page form of questions that from appearance was unbiased. Most of the question had to do with the Senate race...Roberts vs Orman,

We were then brought together and first asked our leanings and then questions were totaled as to the answers given, In others word 10 would answer yes and 18 would answer no..

Next we rated commercials both from the Dems and Reps as to their impact.

Then the fun began. The purpose of the focus group came to light. It was designed to determine what course of action would be best to get Republican incumbent Roberts elected..

For those who do not know about the Kansas Senate election it is Orman, a declare independent against incumbent Conservative Roberts who has been in Senate since time began.

In many of the issues Orman has not taken a direct stance. He states that his positions on things such as Obamacare are to be determined by what's best for the country not party politics
His stance on amnesty is if you have a job, pay taxes and willing to do some public service the door should be open for citizenship.
He is pro choice.

The conservatives have painted him as a liberal democrat in disguise, a supporter of the Obama agenda.

Anyway the crux of the focus group was to determine if we would more swayed to vote for Roberts if..........

1.Orman was a Obama agenda supporter or because Orman would not take a stance on many issues.
2. That Orman would make the vote to continue to have Harry Reid as the senate majority leader, or that Orman was simply the deciding Senate vote, and would prevent conservative from taking over the Senate.
3. That we voted for Obama for change and look what that got us?
Do we want to vote for Orman for change. Is he worth the Risk?
4. On the issues where Orman does take a stance such as abortion or Amnesty or the issues where he does not take a stance such as Obamacare and foreign policy.

5. Does the fact that Koch Bros support and contribute to Roberts campaign effect your vote?

Well for the most part, I think the group running the focus...didn't like my answers. However I certainly liked the $150.00 they paid me. I truly believe Koch money is as good as any, at least it spends the same. LOL

Being paid to express political opinion - sounds like someone is desperate for new ways to persuade potential voters.

"Buying the vote" comes to my mind. I would be curious to know how many more "group sessions" are to be held. Interesting blog.

Are you just assuming that the Koch Brothers paid you or do you have evidence?

Crazy..

No direct evidence but the question of the koch brothers came up. The reply from the person running the group was..... don't you think that the biggest employer in the State of Kansas should have the right to help determine the elected official of that state

My answer was he focus on the senate candidates and the questions asked related far more to the national scene than Kansas. So the Koch bros aren't so much interested in Kansas as they are running the country.
Needless to say, they pretty much ignored my response..
