Dreams I dreampt of a life that wasn't to be The captain of my ship, ruler of the sea Of blue skies and fair winds Of fame and fortunes But storms and rough seas with too few you's and too many me's Closed too many ports and sunk too many ships For what I dreampt ought to be Although it's too late.. It's not done If only, I never fail to forget Life is not about dreams unfullfilled It's about the dreams I haven't dreampt yet. |

I love the way you said that....I'm just realizing that I don't need the possibility of my dreams coming true in order to dream...Letting go of ambition.

Your last stanza is the kind that gives us all hope. Thank you for sharing your poem.

I love the way you said that....I'm just realizing that I don't need the possibility of my dreams coming true in order to dream...Letting go of ambition. It's hard to do..acceptance.....much easier to let it go...Dreams are messages..neither good or bad..that in many cases should help us understand....the life we don't live helps to define the life we do.. You don't "kill" the messenger I am still the captain of my ship and ruler of my seas, failure is not an option. Choices are. The is no divine intervention, good or bad, about the choices we make. Circumstance may dictate the possible choices. But in reality, each choice has already been written in stone.. When you can "accept" the fact in doesn't define what you are..It defines who you are. Good or bad should NEVER enter the picture.. it is what it is.

Letting go is part of the process that leads to acceptance...Habits of youth, like ambition need to be weeded out to make way for acceptance. We make many unconscious decisions every day....As we alter our course, we are hindered by those habitual thoughts .....I pull them out and discard them like weeds in my garden...Often, some roots or stray seeds are left behind and they will grow back and it takes a while to recognize them ....Ambition is a rank weed in the garden of my heart. /SIZE]

people think too much in perfection.. weeds may not be wanted,, butt truth is.. weeds are an integral part of ones garden.. instead of tending one's garden..i would one should "tender" on'e's garden.

Tendering the heart is not about pulling out the weeds.. It's about incorporating them. .

I came across this beautifully expressed saying which I feel isn't too out of place regarding 'Dreams' ~ Bamboo shadows sweep the stairs but no dust is stirred; moonlight reaches to the bottom of the pond but no trace is left in the water. - Zenrinkushu

You don't seem to understand the meaning of the word "weed", or the purpose of metaphor...LOL...You obviously have never gardened.....A "weed" is a plant that grows where it is not wanted and/or in competition with wanted plants.....There is lots of room outside the garden fence where the wild and invasive plants thrive....Gardening is all about nurturing tenderness,....Tender vegetables and fruit, which become tough and wooden and bitter when competing with weeds......it has nothing to do with "perfection', but with making a slight course-correction... . that would be like the "pot" calling the kettle black.

I came across this beautifully expressed saying which I feel isn't too out of place regarding 'Dreams' ~ Bamboo shadows sweep the stairs but no dust is stirred; moonlight reaches to the bottom of the pond but no trace is left in the water. - Zenrinkushu Everything has a place....and every place has a "thing". two plus two....can make four...... If you don't know the steps....Your just going 2 have 2 wear a "tutu" "Oh, how it feels so real Lying here with no one near Only you and you can hear me When I say softly slowly Hold me closer, tiny dancer Count the headlights on the highway Lay me down in sheets of linen You had a busy day today"
