*what was it* ?...not a song ..just fantasies,from long ago Was it the eyes ? that seem to express a joy for life,or a secret that will never be told ? or the cheeks, so firm and ready to receive a kiss ,given so freely from some valant knight ? or maybe the nose,so cute and pinchable ? or was it the mouth?so soft and tender,expressing the words that so many men would want to hear ? or that gorgeous hair,the kind that poets have tried and failed to describe ? *I dont know*.. all I know is she is beautiful.. Men have played the part of a fool just to be near her..fought wars to win her honor.Rich men have given fortunes,and kings thrones to be in love for even an hour with her ! .. but,she is unapproachable to us poor vagabonds..for I have only my calloused hands to extend to her.only feeble words to warm her,and only a hobos heart to be used by her..So I dont stand in line for a chance at this beautiful creature..I pass by the long line of kings,knights,and knoblemen..and tread my weary way..For a princess does not dance with hobos,or kiss frogs anymore..those are just nighttime fables,given to the young ,to help them sleep a peaceful sleep..but,lucky are the ones gazed upon by her,precious are the moments when she calls your name....*IF* I had a wish to spend ?..not for the world,but only for me ,for myself ?..I wish I had the ability,and the moment,to be before her on bended knee..extend my ragged heart,in these trembling hands..and wisper so softly that maybe only the ghosts of lost loves could hear ......."I surrender to you " |
