I have posted previously my complete support of the Canadian healthcare system and the excellent service my family and I have received.

I do not know the answers to your questions. Sadly, some people who think "Medicare or Medicaid for all" are only seeing it as "FREE".
The wait to see a specialist in our area is often contingent upon the urgency. When Joe had a problem with is eye, our general doc called the eye specialist, and Joe was seen the next day, and he referred him to a retinal specialist, who saw him 5 days later, when he was in our area at a satellite office. It could have been sooner if we had wanted to drive 150 miles the next day.
When Joe needed the gastroenterologist, she came to the hospital, then saw him in her office 2 days later.
When my doctor thought I had an ulcer, he sent me to the gastroenterologist, who saw me within a week.
When our doc wanted Joe to see a hematologist/oncologist, the only reason the appointment was a little over 2 weeks away was that he wanted some specialized blood tests done before he saw Joe.
So, in our area, most referrals do not take an extended time.

Yes, MrsJoe..... Medicare or Medicaid should be available to everyone.

In Canada the urgency of the medical situation determines the length of time it will take to see a specialists... from same day to maybe 6 weeks.

We all pay for our healthcare system through our taxes. Healthcare is certainly not free. We just don't see a bill for every service rendered.

I am very happy to pay through my taxes for the excellent care my family, friends, and I receive in Canada.

The Fraser Institute is a right wing institution that always spins data in a manner to support its ideology.

There are waiting lists in Canada, but not for anything that needs immediate attention.

I have waited for several months on a few occasions, but it was never anything that caused me distress or pain.

When I had my first cataract op I was told it would be a couple of months, but they called me to come in after two weeks. I guess an opening showed up.

I get to see my GP within a few days.

I have no complaints about our Medical system. I was referred to a hand surgeon in August and I had an appointment with him a couple of weeks ago. I didn't consider that a long time as you rarely get in to see a specialist quickly unless it is of an urgent need. I think sometimes some of these reports give out the wrong information. At the moment I pay a fee for my healthcare but come 2020 that amount will be included with my taxes.

I am not disagreeing with the data necessarily.
I just think it is meaningless for the most part.
