The sandlot

So I'm sitting here watching one of my favorite movies, The Sandlot.

The memories of both my childhood and when my own were young are flooding back.

If you've never seen this movie, it's about a group of boys who play baseball all summer. There is a house behind the ball park they play at with "the beast", a of legend who eats all who dare to climb the fence and challenge him.

We had a park where the from my neighborhood created our own baseball diamond . Using a rock for 2nd base, there were trees convieniently placed at 1st and 3rd bases and instead of a house with an enormous eating dog, we had the phone companies chained in tower. Hit the ball in there you had an automatic home run!
Spent a lot of fun times there, and just like the movie, we'd all meet there to play after school too!

This movie was also a favorite of my oldest 's. We spent alot of time watching it. Over and over and over..haahaahaa but those were good times. He is 25, married and living in Hawaaii now.

Be blessed, not stressed!

your blog makes my memories come back too...across from my old home..and back in a farmers field..WE *kids* buit our own ball field too..with flour sacks for base'es... even a home run fence with foul poles attached...lol..*some fencing was reported mission from a construction site near by*..and there was a nasty rumor that some kids took it,but I am SURE they were mistaken.. .... we had signs hanging on the fences in right field..center field..and left field of the EXACT measurments from that point back to home plate...lol lol...we even had a gigantic score board with paper #'s hung from an old chicken coup behind home plate.. we were in heaven and played thru our childhood days...what seemed like eternity back then, only seems like a few seconds in time now..I miss those carefree days of innocents ... tho I played *VERY* competetive organised baseball till i was 50 yrs old..some of my greatest moments were on that little field ..lol lol..thanks for this blog..and some warm memories of my youth..trying to be *Mickey Mantle*...nice blog
