Something is Always Blooming

I was doing one of my regular inspection / appreciations of my gardens the other day As everyone knows winter, no matter where you live, puts a damper on flowering plants. However, here in CA and other areas where it doesn’t freeze we do have some things blooming all year. At the moment my calli lilies, amaryllis and camellias are in full bloom , Orange, avocado and lemon trees are blossoming.. Not as colorful or abundant as spring, summer and fall but something blooming.

Connectedness with nature is one of the basic pagan tenants. Some of my best thinking is done when I am in a natural environment, away from man made energy deficient, mass produced “things”. I thought how like plants and every other thing in the natural world humans are whether we choose to admit it or not. Everyone blooms on a different schedule. There are times and situations that are conducive for more to bloom and times and situations that limit blooming but unless it dies off everything blooms sooner or later. Some even bloom more than once or off season. Like plants humans also need the right nutrition, water and light to do their best. They need love and care to reach their optimum. We are not as different as some may think.

I like to think of myself as one of my white rambling rose bushes. They are always blooming but proliferate when conditions are optimal during the hot sunny summer months. They have sturdy plants which survive almost anything but need care and love to produce their delicate but beautiful flowers.

What kind of plant are you?

Very interesting blog but, I know nothing about flowers. What I do know is growing food.

Now, whatever flower that blooms all year is what I strive to be as it is my desire to bring a smile or make everyone feel good I meet along life's way.

I am a Brussels Sprout, though I don't sprout as often as I would like to. But one always lives in hope that things will change. I guess I need to do some fertilizing.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

There is a hedge of purple flowering plants on one side of my yard that blooms year round. My white roses do too, although they are far more productive in the warmer months. Geraniums also bloom all hear here. However I don't think any of these would survive where there is a cold winter. They all bring a smile on the dark winter days.

Maybe better that way. Our generation needs some who still have enthusiasm.

My daisies are just starting to bloom. I'll think of you now when I look at them.

Hi sw,

After thinking a while, I think I must be the cannonball flower. Shake my tree and I will fire cannonballs at you.

I think I am walnut tree - lol @ myself.

Actually I had never thought that I could relate to a tree but yes we have apples, apricots, plums, peaches and walnuts all in our home compound in Kishtwar in Kashmir. The house still has them but I do not live there any more but for occasional visits.

Have a wonderful day - I know you will because your weapona are truth and honesty. & a KOC.

Good thought. Another thing about orchids (I have never had much luck with them as I have either lived where it is too cool or too hot and dry and always have fresh air in the house rather than AC)is that their bloom lasts a very long time.

Never seen that side of you but then I don't go shaking trees intentionally - although I have an accidental collision every now and them.

My house and property marginally had all of those except for for walnuts. Unfortunately some of then died off during a long drought and water rationing. We still have orange, avocado, peach and tangerine trees though.

I know what you mean about the hustle and bustle. I was hit with that as soon as my plane landed in LA last week. Life in Puerto Vallarta (at least the way I live it) is mostly spent in nature as is my time at the my lake property. Lots of natural surroundings here in the canyon as well but the surrounding energy encroaches.

We're all called blooming idiots at times, particularly when we are happy and enjoying our lives. I remember one person on here in particular who saw my efforts to share positive things as bragging. Guess it's all in the interpretation.

I've always wondered about that one. Are those who are irritated by our happiness jealous or just so determined to spread their negativity and unhappiness to those of us who are able to enjoy life even when our circumstances may be limiting or meager?

Then getting back to the flower analogy - maybe they are just putting some "natural fertilizer" on us.
