I Guess I Have Arrived - Or Not!

Today is overcast, misty and cooler for a change. I finally got to wear my newly created tree of life coat. First stop I set off the alarm going IN to the drug store. This has been happening to me over the past couple of weeks in several stores no matter what I wear. No real problems except some occasional questions

Next stop the grocery store. I'm concentrating on getting things "normal" people eat for tomorrow's guests. A couple smiles at me and asks me if they are shooting a movie today. Our little town has something filming frequently as we are close to LA and our 2 block main street can be used for "any small town" USA. This is a major source of income for the town. We also have the train museum, antique train service and train yard full of all sorts of stuff that make great backgrounds for movies and TV shows. About the only attention I have paid to most of this is to grumble when a street is closed.

I'm still focused on feeding normal people. I answered "I wouldn't know". They looked me over again and said "Oh, we thought you were with one of the movie companies" The best I could do for a come back was "No, I'm the real deal, one of those eccentric locals that live out here and give the canyons their reputations."

I'm still thinking about that one. Although not this town I initially moved into the area because we "creative" types fit in better but plastic, phony Hollywood? As That Bill Guy commented when he visited - I am exactly as I present myself and as appear.

We are allowed to still be ourselves I hope!

THEY probably thought you were a movie star or with a movie company and would give them free pass to watch them film.

You should have said you were with the movie people and did they want to go grocery shopping with you.....

Hi Spirit: A few years ago my ex and I were walking down the street in Niagara Falls. We were both dressed up to go dancing later and it was sunny out so we were wearing sunglasses. A bunch of Asian tourists came running at me with their autograph books open asking "Are you anyone?". I said yes but sorry no autographs today.

When I was a much younger man I used to be mistaken for Dickie Valentine, a popular singer of those years, it got to be very embarrassing at times. You just have to learn to cope with it, I even gave out a few autographs.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

One thing that I can say for sure is that I do enjoy all of my "Unique" creations. Many are things I wanted for years but had to put on the back burner due to either lack of time or money

I doubt but I'm with you on the free pass idea. but they thought I wa a star. Ironically the movies done here are in the filming stage and don't come out for months.

I have often thought the same. I grumble about the drive into town but every time I take the canyon road I am reminded of what you said - that I get to live in a place many only see in their dreams.

You should of reminded them that everyone is someone. I had a similar thing happen a few years ago. I had a man tourist come up to me in a store and comment that I was what he thought all Californian women looked like - blond with sunglasses on my hear - but so far I was the only one he had seen. You got to love the image thing.

Doesn't it make you wish we had the spending power that comes with peoples? You should have told the promoter that you are someone big, let him go on for a bit, then after he made a fool of himself tell him you were referring to your size and watch his reaction.

When they were both young my son in law had the same thing. Ie looked like Leonardo DiCaprio who was rumored to have a get away place around here. SIL finally gave up and just signed autographs. Now that they are both older the resemblance is almost nonexistent.

I love it and find it amazing that so many people think we are wither crazy, famous or rich if we dare to be different.
