I know I Shouldn't

Ride on a motorcycle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I thought those days were behind me but have had a longing lately every time I pass them on the road. Tonight I had a wonderful surprise.

A friend invited me for dinner. When I went to meet him he said "lets take this". It is one of the brand new bikes Indian is making. He is testing and critiquing it over a few months for the company (he is a former racer). My latest longings to defy aging realized.

Clad in over sized borrowed gear I faced the moment of truth. Could I still get my butt up in the seat behind a portly fellow? Sure enough, there is still some strength and flexibility left in great grandma. Had a great ride through my favorite canyons, over the river and through the woods then dinner in a civilized place and back via freeway. Even got caught in a bit of rare southern California rain.

I know it sounds like a crazy thing to do but it sure gave my spirit a boost and I am none the worse for the wear. Nothing hurts any more than usual.

Sounds like you really enjoyed the ride, you must really enjoy riding.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

Hi Spirit: I love riding on a motorcycle, but hate wearing those helmets. I have curly hair and when I take off the helmet my hair is a mess. lol My ex had a motorcycle and we had the best times riding around.

Thank you. Goes to show you just never know when an opportunity will pop up. this was just suppose to be a "catch up" with an old friend I hadn't seen in several months.

Now that is encouraging. I have been wondering about the trike kind as you see more and more of them. I wonder how they corner? Actually the newer bikes are not that much more uncomfortable than my car - once you get the butt up and over to get on them.

It's in my blood I think. My dad was a real hot shot on a bike. A sister and both daughters both into them too. Definitely not from my mother's side though. She did her best to keep them banned from the house!

Another of the reasons I have always kept my hair long. A pony tail doubled over inside of the helmet keeps the curls in place. When I am done my hair even brushed out less wild and curly than when I started. One of my sister's does not understand why my other sister and I keep our hair long when we mostly keep it in a pony tail. Controlling it is our reason.

I'm honored. I have never been one to back down from anything fun. Probably started in childhood. My life was constantly being disrupted as I moved between father's home, Mom's home and grandparents. By the time I was 10 I learned that there is no real tomorrow so if the opportunity comes your way grab it. Lots of bumps in the road but no regrets.

True but now I want to ride some more. Instead of a knight on a whit horse I need a man on any color machine.
