Photo Monday - Lamps This one is fun for me. When I moved in here the only lighting was general room lighting. That didn't work for me so I set about creating lamps to provide more intense lighting to work areas and less to the whole room. So far this is what I have. Bedroom lighting. I found lamp shades in punched tin and turned them into hanging lamps. Love seat area where I needed intense light when I embroider. This is a piece of Mexican pottery turned into a lamp. I think it was originally designed to cover a large candle on a flat surface. Dining area turned work table. This one is a room light fixture placed inside of a barrel planter then decorated with Mexican Talavara and turned into a hanging lamp so it focuses light onto the table only. The wood carving is an original Chuck had done when he had his plane. It landed there as a joke but looked appropriate enough to stay. The last is one is chucks. Again from his fly boy days. We were going to pack it away but he wanted to try it in my desk - easel area. It worked and since it is another original handcrafted item it stayed. That and the wood carving of his plane are about the only hand crafted things he owned. Most of his stuff was very mechanical and utilitarian rather than aesthetic. You will notice the mess around most of the items. As I mentioned several times I do not live in a traditional setting. What should be a living room and dinning room are my art studio / work area. I usually have several things going on at once and like most artist types have materials all over the place. One of the reasons I live out here in eccentricville. Spiritwoman ^i^ |

I like all of those lamps, Spirit, but I have to say that I prefer the last one more than the others. That is great! Alfie...

I cannot choose just one for a favorite. The last one made me laugh, also the plane landing on the shade was very clever! They are all so different.

Took a while to come up with what I wanted. I think I have enough stuff from ideas that didn't work out to make 3 - 4 alternatives. Spiritwoman ^i^

Thank you. Each one took a while to find the right idea. Once that was in place putting them together was easy. Spiritwoman ^i^

Those were my first. I knew what I wanted but it took a while to find the materials. A mixture of Western and new age celestial. Spiritwoman ^i^

No real story. I was looking for something to replace the standard old lady cheap fixture that was over the table I use for a work area for some time. One day when doing my usual visit to a discount store I found the wooden planter. The Mexican ceramics were added for coordination becasue I have many of them on the kitchen walls. Chuck put the the wood carving of the plane sitting on there as a joke but it fits so I decided it could stay. Spiritwoman ^i^

Thank you. No end to what happens when you put an artist / designer with too much time on their hands in an empty house and give them free reign. Spiritwoman ^i^

those took the longest to find something appropriate for "raw materials". One of the walls is covered with metal art and the entire theme is celestial (sun moon and stars). The colors are Chuck's brown and tans and most celestial creations are blue and gold. The quilt is also one of my creations custom made to incorporate theme with color. Spiritwoman ^i^
