They Are Out To Get Me

Or so it seemed today.

I started with meeting an old coworker for our regular weekly breakfast. Exiting the parking lot a huge pick up truck came barreling in on the wrong side of the road. I was able to get out of the way in time even though it meant darting out into traffic much sooner than I ordinary would.

Out in the street we barely caught our breath when a huge tour type bus cut a corner too sharp sending his rear end over into my lane. This time I had to slam on the breaks. Fortunately the traffic behind me saw what was happening and didn't rear end us.

Over to my house to work on the renovation project and had to deal with an issue Instated of working. I had planned to finish the touch ups on my painting so I can move on to refinishing the hardwood floors in the 2 rooms.

I took the canyon road home. It was not the best time of day but I was encouraged becasue I did not get stuck behind a farm vehicle heading home. I don't really mind sitting behind one but others are far less patient and pass several vehicles on the windy narrow road.

Just when I thought I was "home free" a darted out of one of the orange groves right in front of me. I did just what you are not suppose to do, slammed on my breaks and swerved. I managed to avoid both the and the ditch. I was concerned that someone else might hit the so stopped and tried to catch it without luck.

Hardly my best day but I made it home, had dinner and am relaxing so all is well. I just hope my computer doesn't blow up!

With days like that I'd have my brakes checked regularly. Hang in there. Glad nothing serious happened.

Judgment Day will be interesting - and all paths lead there.

I guess we all have those sort of days sometimes, Spirit. We just have to be pleased that we don't get them too often.

Alfie...

It only takes a drop of ink to make a million people think. There are many stories.

I do my best to keep all of the car functioning well because I usually drive the steep windy canyon roads. It's also not a good place to get stranded. Gaps in cell service and although this is a rural area we are only about 70 miles (around 75K) from LA and the dangerous human wild life occasionally wander this far from their territory.

Definitely. I have been driving in city traffic most of my life and fortunately these hi risk days do not happen that often.

I'll bet there is a double hazard there - the people who really shouldn't be driving and the younger ones who think it's one big Daytona Raceway. It's been years but about the only unusual thing I remember from Florida was driving on the beach. I believe that was Daytona as well. Bet you can't do that any more.

It was the toy car and both it and I performed as we were meant to. Ironically this was the first time in a week I drove the toy. Chuck's "old man car" is far more accommodating for the Home Depot supply runs and carrying around my construction worker bag of tools, thermos and supplies.

I did give the vast conspiracy thing a thought but being neither a Republican or Democrat I couldn't make up my mind which side was destroying civilization as we know it or whether it was Bush or Clinton's fault.

Stay home where it is safe and sound, Spirit.
